Fabulous place to visit although the weather was terrible. If you are looking to stay at Youth Hostel make this place a priority.
Lunch in cafe was lovely and good value for money

“Starting to display her Autumn Colours”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

Once again a visit to the Derbyshire Dales would not be complete without a stroll/Climb around this beautiful parkland. The leaves are starting to turn and the tree lines are becoming a kaleidoscope of autumnal hues...well worth a visit in the few weeks.

“Pleasant place to stroll - YHA manor in a pretty village”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Didn't spend too much time here, but it could bear a much more thorough visit I'm sure. Lovely stone built manor / hall in lovely countryside, and at the centre of a small village. The house is a YHA, so not all of it is visitable, unless you are staying of course - and what a place to stay!

“Many interesting walks”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

We were looking for a place to walk within the Peak District and decided to give Ilam a try. We are National Trust members and had read about Ilam Park many times but never visited - the description in the NT book does not do it justice. The park is magnificent with many interesting walks through woodland, riverside, through the gardens or generally through the grounds - there is also a lovely walk to the village that should not be missed as the village is beautiful with many cottages with superb gardens.
We had lunch at the on-site tea room where the freshly made sandwiches (made with 'real' bread, not sliced) were very tasty and reasonably priced.
Now that we know of Ilam we will definitely be back.
There is no fee to visit the park but there is a charge for car parking (free for NT members).
