I should say from the start the we booked this as a special offer through groupon which included the room and meal so it's hard to rate on value as I don't know what the inn normally charges for a room. The room was average, pretty basic in terms of what is offered and the bed was fairly uncomfortable and seemed small but we are used to a king size at home. The shower room was fine, shower was good although when my wife tried to have shower at around 8am there was no hot water but after about 20 minutes we tried again and it was fine, not really an issue for us as we weren't in a hurry to leave but might be if you had somewhere to get to!
Our evening meal was pleasant enough although it was a little disappointing there were only 4 choices of main course. We had spicy prawns to start which were really nice and a rump steak for main which was fine but not worth the £14.95 that's charged for it. The cheescake for desert was fantastic. The bar is well stocked and has a great local organic lager called Freedom which is well worth trying and was £3.40 a pint. There were also real ales and good selection of wines and spirits. The bar has a few comfy sofas and chairs and was cosy and relaxing, just slightly odd that there are pictures of chickens everywhere!
The breakfast was very nice, fruit juice, cereal, toast and full english with delicious sausages. The guy that runs the place was pleasant and helpful too.
For what we paid for our offer it was good, not sure I would go back just because the rooms aren't brilliant but if I lived nearer I'd more than happy popping in for a pint.

Can't fault the food, service or the entire experience. A few months have passed singe we dined there, so my review is scarce on detail.
However, we are booked to return in July. Staying the night this time and, of course, dining. Looking forward to it. Enough said

Welcome:- over 15 mins wait before we were attended to with no apology or explanation.
Room:- Tiny, the smallest I have stayed in outside London. Noisy, catering fan & smoking shelter outside window, bottle delivery at 6am. Only 2 coffee sachets, 2 milks and no complimentary toiletries. No hot water or hair dryer.
Nights sleep, unironed bed linen, creaky tiny bed with a foot board.
Food, OK put not worth £15 for a steak.
Ambience, good background music, we asked to have the candles lit, cold dining and bedroom.
Breakfast, really good, tasted nice, well presented and served. Need a radio in breakfast room.

This Inn was closed for some time - hence, we imagine, the reason why there are not more reviews. We understand that the new management took over less than a year ago and, judging by our experiences, they certainly deserve to do well. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and all the staff make you feel at home. It's a comfortable, relaxing place to stay, made more so by the thoughtful layout of the room in which to take your coffee or evening drink. If you want to order your meal, be served straightaway and have no wait between courses, this isn't the place for you. When your food arrives, you'll appreciate the wait because it really is home-made, and tastes amazing. My husband and I rarely bother with sweets but were tempted because of the high standard of the other courses and were certainly not disappointed. They were wonderful. Even though we only stayed one night, we felt that we were leaving friends, and we do hope to stay there again. There's an interesting old church nearby which is worth a visit and an interesting walk from the Inn, but be aware that some cars travel fast down the country lanes and don't seem to expect to see people walking along, especially as there are no pavements!

We had a lovely stay at the Crown Inn - the rooms was fine; the food was excellent, and the personal attention given by the Chef was lovely. This is an inn that has the cosy ambience you want on a dark, cold evening with real fires and comfy sofas.

Had a fantastic time, thank you very much, would love to return very soon.
