The pub is located 6 miles south of Asbourne and is an ideal base for exploring the nearby towns of Asbourne, Leek and Uttoxeter.
The pub itself is clean and cosy with a friendly and helpful Landlord, (Esa?) who is Finnish and cooks lovely food for the restaurant.
There is also a real log fire in part of the bar and a couple of well kept cask ales on the bar.
Our room was the double executive at £62.00 for a Saturday night and breakfast on the Sunday which I thought represented good value.
It was clean with comfortable double bed, two seater sofa and large flat screen televion with freeview. The bathroom was clean and a good size with over bath shower and plentiful hot water.
All in all it was a relaxing stay. I suggest a visit to one of the nearby market towns and then a relaxing night at the pub with a meal to make it a good break.

Arrived in this beautiful country hotel and was greeted by a man called mark who made us feel very welcome . We got showed to our bedrooms which where decent sizes with a en suite and check in was quickly and easy. We had a few drinks on the bar downstairs which where reasonable prices and again staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay especially mark , he even wrote down directions for us to Alton towers so we didn't get lost - about 10min drive to Alton towers.
The hotel is so cosy we had our tea in the restaurant and the food was amazing !! Good variety of food and breakfast was yummy too ! Great start to the day ahead!
I would deffo return to this hotel and recommend it as we had a really good experience and the staff where very helpful and friendly !
Top hotel and lovely decorated inside !! :)

The Crown Inn is not easy to find - consult your GPS. Once there we had a warm welcome from management and staff and were shown to our well furnished room with a view over the tiny hamlet of Marston Montgomery. Decor is traditional country comfort style, pretty new and spotlessly clean. Ensuite was well equipped and everything worked OK. Breakfast was comprehensive English style, served promptly and fresh with old world courtesy. We ate one dinner in the restaurant and though we had to wait some time to be served we weren't disappointed with the fare. Marston Montgomery is well located for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and a great place to find peace and quiet. Would definitely stay at the Crown Inn again.

The Crown Inn at Marston Montgomery, a tiny hamlet near Ashborne in Derbyshire, is a hidden gem, serving locally sourced produce at cost effective prices with excellent service. We were dining with two friends who live in nearby Rocester in Staffordshire. My partner went for the wood pigeon while other dinner choices were whitebait, grilled goat's cheese, and a venison burger and steak while I went for the curry of the day-excellent chicken on the bone in a home made sauce. The total with drinks came to around £100 for four. In the holiday let where we were staying we noticed several satisfied previous customers who'd penned notes about their positive experience of the hospitality. Recommended especially if you are hungry.
