“Great stay”
Reviewed 23 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We had a great stay. The location is just gorgeous that we stayed out All days long making fire and cooking on it as well although there is fully equipped kitchen (except stove). Nights were still a bit cold but if you have good sleeping bag it should not be a problem.

This barn stay is the PERFECT setting for a big group! The green fields all around you are just beautiful, waking up there really is a pleasure. The picnic benches and fire pit is perfect for evening bbqs, and campfire smores. We had sunshine, wind, rain, hailstones and a thunderstorm but it just added to the perfect weekend! There's plenty of room inside for everyone to sleep comfortably, and the kitchen comes with all you need; kettle, glasses, phone charging points! The £1 machine for electricity seemed to last ages too when we didn't have the heaters on. Make sure to take plastic cutlery and a few extra bin bags if you're there for a while! There are 2 big bins for basic rubbish and recycling rubbish but they can fill up fast after a couple of bbqs and a few beers!
Jason and Michelle are really accommodating too, you can buy a big bag of firewood from them for a fiver, and the cafe they run (next to where you pick the keys up from) is just lovely. Next time we will be making sure we buy a cup of tea and a cake!
We loved our weekend so much that we've already booked another stay. This barn is perfect for all ages, you won't regret a stay here at all :)

“Couldn't of wished for a better place to stay”
Reviewed 30 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Rented the barn for a surprise birthday party. Absolutely perfect for a get together with friends, we had a fire outside and some music in the barn.

Everyone was more than happy with the facilities in the barn and taken back by the stunning views of the country side all around. Very peaceful and beautiful setting, even the cows came over to say hello.

Also a great little pub just a mile away, what more do you want??

It is a stunning location, in the heart of the countryside. We had amazing communication with the owners. The barn itself has a big communal area with a kitchen, shower and toilet. My family used the barn and surrounding field to host a party, and I can safely say it was a brilliant location to host the party as everyone had a great time and was very comfortable. We had a nice campfire and lots of music. I would recommend to anyone who wanted to host a party or simply use as a base for walking in the beautiful Manifold Valley. Thank you to the owners !

“Waterslacks Camping Barn, Butterton, Peak District .... Excellent!”
Reviewed 6 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Being involved in outdoor education, the location, facilities, general ambiance and group safety all have to be taken into account. Waterslacks Camping Barn in the Staffordshire Moorlands villlage of Butterton in the Peak District delivers on all accounts. The added bonus of really friendly and helpful owners, Michelle and Jason who live just up the road at Fenns Farm, just make the whole process of booking even easier.
The barn is basic, but that is what you are buying into and a great adventure for Y6 kids especially when you walk into it rather than arriving by vehicle. The facilities are clean and appropriate for the experience. There is plenty of outdoor space for groups cooking on Trangias if the weather is kind enough and open fires are permitted which is a great bonus. You can arrange for Jason to deliver wood to the barn.
Waterslacks Barn is an ideal location for Wetton Mill, climbing at the Roaches, cycling on the Manifold Trail, exploring Thors Cave and Ecton Copper Mines which also makes it great for families and parties alike.
Thanks Michelle and Jason, we will be back!

Clean and well kept barn, 18 of us happily shared the space. Excellent space for building fires. Local village and town both delightful. Within driving distance of the roaches. Would highly recommend. Plus super sweet and helpful owners; thanks guys!!!

“Lovely weekend at Butterton.”
Reviewed 27 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Me and 8 others all aged 20-24 stayed here this weekend for something to do that was different. What a lovely time we had the barn is literally in the middle of nowhere which is great the electricity runs on a £1 meeter which surprisingly lasted quite long. It was nice to be respected by people who let the barn out because we get a lot of age discrimination. But we loved it and will defiantly be returning on the summer for another fab weekend.
