“Lovely, lovely”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

Dropped in for our first ever time and first impressions, always the most important, were great.
The staff were very welcoming indeed and is the sort of genuinely friendly place that seems to be dying out.

It was a nice day so used the beer garden, perfect sun trap.

We ordered some food and enjoyed it immensely, good home made stuff at a very, very good price. I had the nut roast (I'm not a veggie) and it was outstanding, I've been eating tons of vege food since due to it :)

Overall, defiantly somewhere we'll go to again, and from the constant trade we saw whilst there, a perfect stop off for walkers, riders and local campers.

Thank Hollow S

“Fantastic evening!!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

Last time we visited several months ago it was closed, so phoned Ian the new landlord to confirm. Very pleasant guy, very welcoming and the traditional live music was brilliant! Beer was excellent, well tasty. Didn't eat here but reliably informed food is also very good. A must if you're walking in the area and need your thirst quenching!!

“An Oasis!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We stopped at this pub after walking for nine hours and it was like finding an oasis in the desert. Had the most amazing rabbit stew and the landlord looked even gave us plasters for our sore feet. Wonderful place.

“Great atmosphere, unspoilt, standard pub grub”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

We found the staff welcoming and the original pub building has plenty of character. The food we picked was pretty basic pub grub (lasagne/casserole) which I wouldn't rush to return for but the basic sandwiches/chips looked good and this is well placed for lunch whilst walking in the beautiful Wetton area. There is a small pub garden with seating at the back and families seemed very welcome (including plenty of full size high chairs - great for smaller babies that can't manage the A frame style without backs yet).
