My wife and I stayed at the Orange Tabby on June 1 after two days of deep sea fishing. We are still in our room as I write this review on my phone. Couldn't wait to recommend the Orange Tabby. They think of everything including the best pillows and mattresses out of the six different places we've stayed at in Port Hardy.

Other highlights include the following: great decor featuring an oceanic theme, fridge, DVD player with a good library of titles, proximity to the best of Port Hardy, nice private washrooms, full guest kitchen access, a comfortable common area, and more.

The owners are very nice thoughtful people who are local and know a lot about the area. I highly recommend staying at the Orange Tabby.

Stayed two nights at this great B&B in Port Hardy prior to ferry to Prince Rupert. James & Susan were great, friendly hosts, full of useful local knowledge, great suggestions and advice, before and during our stay.

The breakfasts were awesome - tasty and plentiful. On the second morning, we had to leave at 6am to catch the ferry and they provided a full carry-on breakfast without us even thinking of asking.

The en-suite room was modern, spotlessly clean and well equipped; very comfortable mattress & pillows; big selections of DVD's; the free wifi worked well. Indoor and outdoor seating areas were comfy.

They are 2 minutes walk from the main street and waterfront. Great place - we''ll be back!!!!

It's difficult to give a Full review of this lovely B&B as we were there for such a short time, but despite this, our hosts James and Susan were very friendly and welcoming. We arrived quite late at night having just come from the "Inside Passage" ferry and took the Port Hardy shuttle (a yellow school bus!) that James told us about from the ferry terminal. We were welcomed and quietly shown to our room, so as not to wake the other guests. We had a double room with en suite bath and shower which was nicely decorated and comfortably furnished. It was well equipped with plenty of wardrobe space, a table and 2 chairs to sit at and some toiletry supplies in the bathroom. If you had a lot of luggage it could have been a bit of a squeeze.... James said it made a change to see people travelling light! Breakfast the next morning was delicious with several choices and a chance to meet Susan and our fellow guests. James and Susan were enthusiastic about Port Hardy and keen to suggest places to go. Our fellow guests gave us a lift to their fishing spot so we could enjoy a walk and spot some wildlife before we had to leave, which was nice of them. We were able to store our luggage at orange Tabby after check out and James booked our taxi for us. I must of course mention the Orange Tabby himself, Jose, who we got to meet, along with Rocky the pug, before we had to depart. A shame this was such a brief stay.

Room Tip: They all looked pretty nice!

Three of us stayed two nights at the Orange Tabby in Port Hardy on Vancouver Island before boarding a liveaboard boat to scuba dive the area. James was our host, as his wife was out of town. My husband and I stayed in a larger room with private bath, queen bed, and plenty of storage; our friend was just across the hall in a slightly smaller room with private bath. We were the only three there as it was a bit out of season, so we just left our doors open much of the time. We were about a two minute walk from town, one minute from the Sporty Bar & Grill, which had fantastic soup and fish dinners, and a few minutes from the Supreme Convenience Store where we had wonderful ice cream.

James cooks a mean breakfast: porridge, pumpkin/walnut bread, melon, yogurt, and zucchini quiche the first morning, and porridge, poached egg & fried tomato on an English muffin, scones, yogurt, watermelon, and smoked salmon the second morning.

Each room had a cute little electric fireplace, but only one could be operated at a time, or a circuit blew. There's a pet cat and a dog who aren't supposed to be downstairs, but sometimes sneaked down for some company. James was working on a kitchen/dining area downstairs where the bedrooms are, so small groups can do their own cooking, and James can serve breakfast downstairs instead of upstairs where he and Susan live. He's also planning on putting a door at the bottom of the steps for more privacy and to keep the animals upstairs.

Port Hardy is a great place for exploring and hiking, and the Orange Tabby B&B was the perfect place for us to stay.

Stayed 2 nights at Orange Tabby prior to getting the ferry north to Prince Rupert. Fantastic and friendly hosts with infectious enthusiasm and great recommendations. Bottle of homemade fizz on arrival was welcomed after a long drive. Only wish we could have stayed longer – there’s so much to offer.

We have chosen this B&B based on other reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. James and Susan are super nice people and great hosts. We had a room with private bathroom ( which had very nice shower) and our own gas heater which came handy for drying some wet clothes. We had 3 breakfasts with them and every one was different and delicious. I have to admit thinking salmon for breakfast would not be my choice but it was wonderful specially was caught by James and prepare with his recipe. Great information source about the area and if you need help with booking or setting your adventure they there to help you. If we go back we will defiantly stay with them. We also got to meet their sweet pug Rocky and tabby cat Jose both cute and sweet.

Room Tip: I think all rooms are the same but not sure.

The north of Vancouver Island is a unique possibility to see some of the greatest wildlife in one of the most beautiful settings and surroundings you'll ever come across. If you love nature and everything that lives in it, then you should visit Port Hardy. Stay for at least 5 days, you won't regret it. Bald eagles, Blackbears, Humpback whales and Orcas: It's all there and you'll see them plenty.

During you stay in the north of Vancouver Island choose the Orange Tabby in Port Hardy. The rooms a very luxurious and the friendly owners James and Susan will provide you with the best breakfast and many good tips of how to spend your day out playing in the wild.

Enjoy your first time there, I know we will be back...
