“Best Waterton Lakes accommodation”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

There are few places to stay in Waterton Lakes and we are fortunate that this B&B is one. The staff is welcoming and the rooms are comfortable and very clean. The building has a large wrap-around balcony where it's easy to spend the hours viewing the park. This is the second time we've stayed here and I look forward to future visits.

Owner is the fourth generation of her family to be running this historic inn. Our room was a bit small, but very clean and cozy with new beds and quiet heater. Fans were also provided for warmer weather. Each room is different, so look at the website carefully and choose the one that suites you best. Liked the fact that each room has its own entry door. Would have liked to take advantage of the pleasant deck, but it rained quite a bit while we were there. Lots of lush greenery and flowers everywhere. Breakfast was coffee, juice and fresh muffins. Convenient location to the lakefront and town shops were within walking distance. Very quiet and pleasant.

Historic B & B in Waterton. Clean comfortable room with a new bed and newer decor. Breakfast is minimal consisting of coffee, tea, juice and muffins. This is not the friendliest B&B we have stayed in, we missed the personal touches such as flowers and cookies. Good knowledge of the area. Not a good value for the money and there are good options in Waterton.

We have wanted to visit the park for many years so on a return trip home we booked the lodge. Unfortunately we arrived during what turned out to be three days of rain in the park.
Northland Lodge was (is) warm and inviting, and our room was cozy and welcoming. We slept in actually, having been lulled to sleep by the nearby waterfall. We will definitely book Northland Lodge again for our next visit to the Park.

We really enjoyed our stay at Northland Lodge and would definitely recommend. Our room was comfortable and cosy and we were the first people to sleep in the new bed! Breakfast of homemade muffins and jam was perfect and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and chatting to the other guests. Waterton is a beautiful area and we loved the park, walks and wildlife.

Lets start off by saying this trip was our first time in Waterton. Waterton itself is absolutely beautiful, with incredible scenery and wildlife. We loved Waterton!

As for this hotel, frankly, we were surprised that it is rated number 1 of 8 in the area. The place itself looked, and felt, "cold". Our room was on the main floor of the house, with two beds, one being a queen and the other a double. Bathroom was extremely small, and the sink was in the bedroom itself beside one of the beds. Overnight, I was cold.
The manager was pleasant and helpful, breakfast is only muffins, coffee, and juice. Muffins were definitely tasty though and home cooked!

This place is overpriced. We paid 160 + tax or almost 180 dollars for the night. We will be staying in a different place next time, as it looks like there are a number of options.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This historic lodge was built and designed in 1928 by Louis Hill of the Great Northern Railway, the famous builder of The Prince of Wales Hotel along with many of the lodges built in Glacier National Park. Our hillside hideaway is located in the quiet part of Waterton nestled against the mountain and is a 5 minute walk to anywhere in town. Open your window and listen to the sound of the waterfalls all night or hang out on the large deck and watch the deer come off the mountain. And while it was undoubtedly the largest home in the park in 1928, it is small by today's standards. What we lack in size we make up for in hospitality. In the mornings we offer coffee, tea, juice and hot muffins with our famous Saskatoon Berry jam. A sit and sip to visit with other guests and learn about all the adventures available to you in Waterton Lakes National Park. ... more   less
