“Catch the sun from host's disposition!”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

We returned to Yvonne's SunCatcher B&B with friends after having visited a few years earlier by ourselves. It's even better than we'd remembered. Fabulous breakfasts - and what a selection. An amazing view from rooms, private picnic table, breakfast, etc. And Yvonne is so friendly and welcoming. We'd have been back sooner except that her place is understandably in high demand and was full up last time we tried.

We point out that there is no "swimming pool", but Malaspina Straight right in front of the house was eminently swimmable - and we did! The last time we kayaked up and down the beach from her place. There is also no "fitness centre" but we got exercise running up and down the beach trail, and biking up to the farmland nearby. Those who have trouble with stairs or trails can drive down to the beach not far from her place.

We'll be back - if she's not booked out.

Didn't know what to expect of the Powell river area or this little B&B: what a delightful surprise in every respect! Yvonne is the perfect host - warm but not intrusive, efficient, organized, knowledgable, gracious & generous with her time & home. Beautiful verdant gardens overlooking the water, perched on a hillside, you can view the passing vessels or soaring bald eagle from beneath a green canopy. Yvonne, you've done it all right! Btw, the breakfasts were amazing too.

We had the absolute honour of staying with Yvonne and her beautiful dog Zoe for the Canada Day weekend! I cannot possibly express in words what a wonderful time we had.We received a wonderful greeting from Zoe even before we got out of our car. Yvonne herself was just amazing, very warm and welcoming and the extra touches that she provided everyday made this one of our most memorable holidays ever! From the stunning breakfasts, to the friendly conversation, Yvonne clearly has it all figured out and understands exactly how to extend her home to others and make them feel like family. The breathtaking view outside the room itself and the sound at night of seals splashing in the water added to the perfection of this place. I cannot say enough. I do have one complaint though, Yvonne you and Zoe made it VERY difficult to leave(my last words to you when we said goodbye). WE WILL BE BACK! You are missing out if you do not experience this place, and Yvonne and Zoe for yourselves!

Room Tip: Both rooms are beautiful. Be sure to leave your window open to hear the sounds of the waves and the...

Yvonne did a lovely job of making us feel at home. the breakfasts were fantastic and the view was to die for. Zoe, the resident dog was equally friendly, making sure to say hello and welcome you back from a day of adventures.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the SunCatcher for two nights in June 2013 and loved it! The host is so knowledgeable about the area and gave us so much insight on how best to explore Powell River and surrounding area. The room was comfortable, clean and had an amazing view of the ocean. We had a wonderful time sitting down by the beach and watching the sunset! Breakfast was sooo delicious...I over ate both days! We would definitely stay here again, highly recommended!

We stayed at the Sun Catcher B&B towards the end of May 2012 last when passing through Powell River. We stayed only one night but it was great. Bedrooms were actually in a separate part of the house, with their own entrances with a communal small guest lounge. There was a deck outside with an arbour which must be lovely on warm summer days. The proprietor is a keen gardener which shows. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the company of the proprietor's Retriever! The weather was sunny and clear and it was pleasant to walk down the path down from the house to the private beach. the sea views from the deck were fab.

Breakfast was super, though being only a toast and marmalade breakfast person, I didn't take advantage of it, but my husband did! We will be returning to Powell River in two weeks for a couple of nights and I am going to try to reserve a room there if I can.

April 30- May 3, 2013.It was my first time going to the Sunshine coast. Picked this B&B do to the picture above and boy I was not disappointed! It was the perfect view. Having coffee in the morning just relaxing at the table listening to all the sounds that nature has to offer. In the evening go down to the beach (which is accessible from the B&B) and watch the seals and birds play in the water. I was also very fortunate to even see a pod of whales go by and watch 3 whales hang around for a minute or two. Yvonne's knowledge of the area was impeccable. She knew all the best places to go from food to kayaking. My only complaint is she makes to much food for breakfast! You will really miss out if you plan to stay a few days in the Powell River area an not stay at the Suncatcher from the view to the host knowledge of the area this is one spot that will not disappoint.
