This hotel is ok hotel but really nothing special. I think they are doing some updates and I think we were in the new section but it was nothing great for a new room. I would say that they already need an update! It worked for us since we were here for a family renuion and didnt spend much time in the hotel except to shower and sleep. The room had no fridge which was a major downside for us since we had some fresh fruit and would have loved a fridge. Some of our other family that was staying at the hotel had a fridge, I don't know if they upgraded there room or not. The rooms are basic and clean but really nothing special. The beds were a bit hard but that may have just been my preference. The major selling feature was that I believe that all three rooms have ocean view and the view is great. Nothing compares like watching the sunset or sunrise from that balcony. The continental breakfast was really nothing great--some apples, oranges, cereal, muffins ( not great), coffee and juice. The hostess at the breakfast was pretty good and funny. I believe they are closed every monday so we didn't get breakfast that morning. I went down to the resturant for a beer one night at like 10pm and they were already closed because the waitress was tired. I don't know what time they actually are supposed to close though. Got chicken fingers from the resturant another night and it was good. Overall the hotel worked for us and what we were there for but it was nothing special.

I have been in marinas from San Diego to Seattle to Powell River and it's always a "crap shoot". Some facilities that are expensive and should have great facilities do not and others offer service and facilities that you'd not expect. The Beach Gardens Resort Hotel is falls into the latter category. Yes, it's an older facility but the showers are unlimited, clean and the water is hot. The pool uses a low-clorine system and it's the perfect temperature. I've been using the pool 2-3 times a week this summer - we keep our boat in the marina through September. The staff at the front desk are kind and helpful. There is an onsite restaurant (with beautiful view) and a more than decent wine and beer store which carries some nice wines and the local Townsite craft brews, which are excellent. It is a busy place, especially July & August with marine traffic heading for Desolation Sound. We always suggest that friends sailing up from Vancouver and Seattle stay at Beach Gardens.

Room Tip: Facing the marina and the water and higher up.

We read about Beach Gardens Resort and Marina in some tourist books and came in by boat to spend one night. We were very disappointed and won't come back. It is peak season in July and the hotel appears to be at less than at 10% occupancy. We purchased a $3.00 pass to use the indoor pool facilities (which we returned) and we were escorted over to a building by a front desk staff who did not even know where to turn on the lights. The pool was filthy and the staff could not even tell us if anyone puts chemicals in it. The whole building was badly in need of a good cleaning and painting. On the way to the front office we saw areas under construction with debris and nails laying about the ground. The whole place looked very tired, dirty, and in need of a sprucing up. With so many beautiful resorts and marinas to stay at up here, we won't be back. We feel Beach Garden Resort really misrepresented itself.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay at the Beach Gardens Marina. We are very sorry that your experience here was not a positive one. This July the hotel has actually been running at a very busy 80-100% occupancy rate. Which is perhaps why we had to offer assistance by a member of our accounting staff in order to give you prompt service. Unfortunately, as you pointed out he was not very familiar with our pool facilities. We assure you that our pool (which has a new state-of-the-art chlorine uv filtration system) is regularly cleaned and properly maintained in compliance with Vancouver Coastal Health operating standards and their regular inspections.

We are currently in the process of building a brand NEW 3,500 sq. ft. deck. We try our best to ensure this construction area is safely blocked off to hotel and marina guests and any debris is cleaned up at the end of each work day. This deck is a very large project which when finished will boast some of Powell River’s best views of Malaspina Strait. We do apologize if this hotel upgrade was an inconvenience to your stay at our marina. Perhaps on your next trip to Powell River you will give us another try and have the opportunity to stay in one of our deluxe waterfront rooms.

All rooms have a sea view and a balcony. We arrived late, and the receptionist provided us with information about hiking the next day. The breakfast was a basic continental one, and the air conditioner was noisy. The room was spacious and clean.

Have come here twice in the last 3 months. Not once have I been disappointed. Easily best place in Powell to go and relax from a busy Vancouver lifestyle! Staff is always friendly as usual. Joan even remembers our name! Overall great experience.

Our choir was very fortunate to be accommodated at Beach Gardens Resort for this bi-annual event. The staff were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay there stress-free.
The rooms were clean and well appointed. We had a fridge; not all rooms do, so ask about that.
The Savoury Bight Restaurant and Bar is perfectly situated by the ocean waterfront. Breakfasts were delicious and generous.
I recommend this resort!

Room Tip: Ask for fridge and water view.

I've stayed at the Beach Gardens a number of times now over an 11 year period. The resort was upgraded several years ago and the rooms in this two story unit that I stay in are brand new looking. The ocean view out the large door/window is world class with beautiful sunsets, eagles, herons, Orca whales, boats, ferries, tugboats, Texada Island and Vancouver Island in the distance. This view never ceases to amaze me. The room is very adequate and clean with modest, but nicely kept appointments.

The walls are paper thin, so you'll hear everything next door, including snoring, romance, arguments and loud TV's. It didn't keep me from sleeping, but some would have a problem with it possibly.

The pub downstairs is very good with a nice selection of local and national brand beers. The patio at night is to die for with a gas fireplace to keep you nice and cozy as the chill sets in.
Breakfast (supplied by the hotel in my case) was very lacking with mostly sweet white flour stuff, sweet juices, and sweetened cereals and packaged oatmeal. We begged for boiled eggs and cheese and yogurt and that came about day 5 of a 13 day stay.

The resort seems popular with clientele as most of the rooms were pretty full (mid to late June). There is private marina right at the ocean and one can watch the comings and goings all day long from the room.

There is a workout room with an adequate supply of good machines.

For tourists, couples this is a marvelous place if you want scenery. Modest as far as rooms go, but the big attraction is the great outdoors, ocean, sky and mountains in the distance.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the ocean (I think they all do in the modern section).
