Wonderfully out of the place quiet resort on Okeover Arm. We stayed there in early April so the weather was only so-so but the setting was epic. As has been mentioned a few times, owner Josephine could not be more forthcoming or helpful with ideas and information. The free use of kayaks is awesome (but something we couldn't take advantage of because we had no booties to protect our feet while launching, be sure to bring your own). The chalet (#10) was exceptionally clean, well stocked and, above all, quiet. We had a nice view over the Arm and the boat dock. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well.

The only thing we think would have improved the place would have been more comfortable sofas in our chalet; as the weather was bad we spent some time indoors and they weren't great for lounging.

Close by; Nancy's Bakery in Lund (great for breakfasts and lunch), the Laughing Oyster next door (fabulous dinner) and boat charter for Desolation Sound from Y-Knot, also next door.

The resort is quiet and tucked away. The resort and the wooden chalets are showing their age, but were comfortable and well stocked. Josephine was very friendly and helpful. the complimentary use of the canoes and kayaks was a real boon, as Okeover Arm is a great place for paddling.

We stayed in chalet 8-1 for 2 nights. it is right on the water with wrap around decks. The setting is spectacular with wonderful views in a remote area.We enjoyed the use of the free kayak. A special place.

My wife (now) and I have travelled independently and together a lot in our lives and I can say that this was the best place we could have asked for during our honeymoon.
I booked the #2 cabin months before we got married and stayed there from Sept 4th - Sept 8th this year. The weather was great, at night it was brisk but that never bothered us because the chalet was always warm and we had our own hot tub.
The cabin: 3 stories of wonderful living space. We had our own fully stocked kitchen, king bed, amazingly huge shower (easily large enough for 2 people) and a great living area. Of course I can't forget: we had a private hottub on the deck. It was also a one minute walk to the Ocean.
Let me talk about the environment in the area: The whole area is beautiful, if you love the wilderness and learning about the area take a Zodiac tour of desolation sound (be sure to ask if you can go swimming when you get there). The water is spectacular, the mountains are magnificent, and if you get up a low tide (between 4-5:30 am) you can just pick up oysters off the beach and have them for lunch or dinner! Did I mention a BBQ comes with the chalet?
The resort/area: The resort itself comes with free access to kayaks and canoes whenever you want them, which is a huge cost savings if you plan to go out (and if you don't plan to leave the chalet, we can't blame you!). There is a restaurant next door, called the laughing oyster which had reasonably priced and amazing seafood all fresh and the owner, Dave, was a gem. The "Boardwalk restaurant" in Lund (the closest town) had really, really good fish and chips but the other stuff wasn't as good as the laughing oyster. Personally for breakfast get Desolation resort to bring you by breakfast food (it costs $15) and they give you fresh baked loaf of bread, a loaf of banana bread, a 1 litre carton of orange juice and a bunch of toppings for the bread!
The owners are amazing, and we really can't recommend this place more. It was the perfect honeymoon, thanks Desolation Resort!

Room tip: I don't think you'll be disappointed with any room there!

We stayed in apartment 4A for the second time for a week. This is great for a couple.
In late July / early August the weather was magnificent. The kitchen has everything you need for making a good meal. We loved the washer & dryer after kayaking or hiking - it's a great way to keep the weight of your luggage down. It's so nice that all the chalets are designed differently. The woodwork and craftsmanship is absolutely magnificent.

We've stayed in many resorts on the West coast but this is the cleanest and super well organized. Clean fresh towels and everything is very practical and easy to use. The walk-in shower is also
bliss.

Management can answer all questions and will give you really good advice on what to do in the area and how to book it. The owners are very kind and lovely people. We are already thinking about coming back.

Some great things to do in the area:

Day-trip kayaking with Powell River Sea Kayak in Desolation Sound
Seafood Buffet on a Wednesday at the Laughing Oyster, a short walk away
Blueberry buns from Nancy's Bakery in Lund
A hike to Malaspina bluff on the Sunshine Coast Trail
A water taxi ride to Savary Island to enjoy the beaches, sand and sun
Hike or bike around Inland Lake (near Powell River) - also has great swimming

Room tip: Read the descriptions on the home page - it really depends on your needs and size of your travel party but there's something to make everyone happy.
