Clean comfortable accommodation with amazing vistas. Josaphine couldn't have been more helpful. We did feel that maybe the chalets will need to be upgraded soon to keep the resort as wonderful as it can be.

Just back from a couple of nights in the resort's signature apartment (room 8-2). The building itself is fantastic, albeit the walls are paper thin and our room literally shook (i kid you not) when the couple downstairs came home last night. The structure is on stilts and i can only imagine that contributed to this very strange sensation. We enjoyed the stay at the resort. The location is excellent and you have the wonderful Laughing Oyster restaurant only 200m or so away (check out the restaurants website for some brilliant deals on dining and accommodation at Desolation Resort - MUCH MUCH better that the advertised rates, and interestingly only promoted via the restaurant and not the resort - we felt conned!). We also felt that the resort had fitted out the room with furniture from liquidation sales. It was completely mis-matched, and there wasn't enough of it. The kitchen was adequately well stocked, if you include chipped cups, plates, whcih were again mis-matched. Not that we needed it but the spare (bunk) bed was not made and appeared that someone had simply torn off the previous occupants bed linen and then chucked the duvet back up top. Would go back if someone else paid, not on my own dime. This place has so so much potential and falls so far short. Disappointing.

Room tip: Reserve via Laughing Oyster restaurant for preferential rates.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your trip to our resort. We do value all input and strive to improve on things that are brought to our attention

Yes, our chalets of wood are built high on stilts and these buildings are blended into the slopes with tall cedars and firs surrounding them. We are not a high density resort and have just 13 chalets on 8 acres.

Most of our chalets are free standing single units but we have two buildings that have a upper and lower unit. From your comments, I understand that you were in the upper unit of building 8

I can understand that you did not expect chalets and building on stilts and was expecting something else like a concrete building.

But I wish that you had approached us immediately when you realized that this was not what you expected andwe would have done our best to move you to one of our free standing chalets if they were available or other suitable accommodations in Powell River . In future we will endeavour to make our guests aware that our buildings are built on stilts and of wood and not concrete buildings.

The resort markets its specials by advertising them on our website or by sending out these specials only to those on our mailing list.

If you were at the resort on the long weekend, the specials do not apply . The specials are sometimes only for some of our units. If you had booked a unit where the specials apply and in the appropriate time frame, we would have made you aware of them . From your comments , you indicated that you had booked 8-2. None of the specials applied to this unit. If you were here for the May long weekend or for the Easter long weekend, the specials would not have applied either.

Once again thank you for your feedback but wish we were able to resolve the issues you had at the onset of your vacation.

Wonderfully out of the place quiet resort on Okeover Arm. We stayed there in early April so the weather was only so-so but the setting was epic. As has been mentioned a few times, owner Josephine could not be more forthcoming or helpful with ideas and information. The free use of kayaks is awesome (but something we couldn't take advantage of because we had no booties to protect our feet while launching, be sure to bring your own). The chalet (#10) was exceptionally clean, well stocked and, above all, quiet. We had a nice view over the Arm and the boat dock. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well.

The only thing we think would have improved the place would have been more comfortable sofas in our chalet; as the weather was bad we spent some time indoors and they weren't great for lounging.

Close by; Nancy's Bakery in Lund (great for breakfasts and lunch), the Laughing Oyster next door (fabulous dinner) and boat charter for Desolation Sound from Y-Knot, also next door.

The resort is quiet and tucked away. The resort and the wooden chalets are showing their age, but were comfortable and well stocked. Josephine was very friendly and helpful. the complimentary use of the canoes and kayaks was a real boon, as Okeover Arm is a great place for paddling.

We stayed in chalet 8-1 for 2 nights. it is right on the water with wrap around decks. The setting is spectacular with wonderful views in a remote area.We enjoyed the use of the free kayak. A special place.
