My university offered a 1-week condensed History course in Barkerville, so I stayed in the Hubs Motel because my sister recommended it. It was probably the best motel/hotel experience that I've had. The room (which I shared with a fellow student to reduce expenses) had a small bedroom with queen-size beds, a main sitting area with futon adjoined to a kitchen area with counters, full size fridge, stove, and sink along with various other appliances.
The rooms were well-kept daily, but what really made this stay stand out was the lady running the place, Diane. She was always amazing - very pleasant, told us to just ask if we needed anything, and even brought us cookies!
The only downside was that there was not a microwave, but I'm not sure if that is standard in motel kitchenettes or not. Otherwise it had all of the standard amenities - soap and shampoo, shoe shine, coffee, make-up remover pads, as well as wireless internet if you have a laptop.
Wells is a lovely little town - if you stop in any of the businesses more than once, someone is bound to remember you with a friendly greeting. Barkerville is likewise a worthwhile historical site to visit.
Overall, I had an amazing time and would recommend this motel to anyone wanting a comfortable, personable, and well-priced stay in the Wells area.
