At entry gate young girl asked how many ppl were going and charged us based on the number of ppl we had. No senior rates. $34-35/adult. AFTER we handed our credit cards and signed the payment receipts, we then found out that 1 of us qualified for Free entry for her and free Afternoon Tea for her & 1 person of her choice ($37-38/value per person). And the only reason we found out was bc one of us happened to ask. this information was never offered nor mentioned PRIOR to payment.
By then the entry fees were already processed, the girl did not offer a refund either. instead she pleasantly said You (1of us) may enter the Garden free of charge “NEXT TIME”.
Now, how many visitors of the age of 79 will be likely to visit again “next time”.
We didn’t argue since we figured at least she gets to enjoy Afternoon Tea with 1 of us, free of charge.
We spent 2-3 hrs at the Gardens, Around 12-1230pm we decided to do lunch at The Dining Room. It’s got this massive gorgeous open grassy field with plants flowers pots at it’s front yard.
We walked in and 2 young women were at the hostess desk. First they said the wait was 30min which i was eager to do but after a few minutes she informed us they were fully booked and had 0 openings for parties of six or larger.
THE DINING ROOM DOES NOT ALLOW MEALS NOR DESSERTS TO-GO
(NOT EVEN IF YOU TRAVELED ALL THE WAY HERE FROM ABROAD AND THEY HAD NO TABLES AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO EAT HERE BC THEY WERE “COMPLETELY BOOKED”).
What a stuck up policy.
Are you that arrogant and snobby that you feel you are too good to allow ppl who were denied a table to at least place orders to-go. Seriously?
Btw the 2 free passes for Afternoon Tea: they had no table openings so guess what, you cannot enjoy your free afternoon tea after all.
Anyways I had no choice but to eat that miserable overpriced cheap food at the Poppy Seed Cafeteria.
