I had the need to spend a couple of days at short notice on a business trip. Had a trawl through all the usual Hotel Booking sites and came across this hotel by chance.

Took the only room they had on offer and was not disappointed.

Staff were vey welcoming, food was good, locally sourced and the view out of the rear facing rooms was good across the valley

Room Tip: Rear facing rooms have the best views but don't worry if these are not available as the hotel is...

We had a voucher for a 3 night stay including breakfast and it was very good value. The room was clean and well presented with large ensure. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on our second night which was really tasty also good value. We would definitely stay there again.

We decided to visit The Pilgrim again for the second time this year as we had such a pleasant stay earlier in the year. Again the service and welcoming atmosphere is really second to none, and we were pleasantly surprised with the seasonal menu (our last stay we had a valentines day menu) and ended up eating here on both evenings the meal was so good on the first night, and reasonably priced also. A very diverse and well presented menu which should suit any palate. Even chilling out and having a few glasses of wine in the bar you just feel so relaxed! Thanks to Trevor and the bar/restaurant team for really going that extra distance and making us feel so at home, and a big thumbs up for chef - the samosa's were awesome and we hope to try some more of your specials on our next visit!

The reviews I had read mentioned the views, the friendly staff and walking from the hotel as being excellent, all of which I agree with. The room was a little tired in places but comfortable and nothing worthy of complaint. The peace was sublime, although the hotel was full and busy service was efficient, friendly and very polite. The food was of a high standard and we could see no reason to explore outside of the hotel for the weekend that we stayed there. As mentioned the hotel was full when we ate on the Saturday, there was a small delay on service but we were sitting outside enjoying the views and having a quiet drink so no worries there. Due to the small delay we were offered a complimentary drink (without any prompting) which was a nice touch and really unexpected but none the less much appreciated.
If you are thinking of visiting the Ross on Wye, Hereford, Ledbury areas I would definitely suggest that you try the Pilgrim Hotel I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: The rear facing rooms (most are) are quiet and we paid a small premium for a deluxe room which we fe...

Booked this hotel using Buy a Gift Vouchers at the last minute due to cancellation of trip abroad. What a great choice. The hotel stands back off a busy road but this does not detract from it at all. The lovely reception area and warm welcome were a good start and the receptionist showed us around and then to our room. It was light airy and overlooked the valley the room was comfortable and well appointed. The whole hotel gave a feeling of peace and quiet. We had a room in the old part of the hotel which suited us fine. We had a cream tea on the terrace on the first afternoon and it was great. The final evening we ate in the restaurant - the meals were generous, good and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend it.

I currently need to visit Hereford for a couple of days on business most weeks and have been staying in the Travelodge and Premier Inn just outside the city centre. Whilst I regularly use both of these chains around the country, the Hereford options are not the best in terms of their locality.

So I decided I would try something a little further away and found The Pilgrim via laterooms.com. Rooms were being offered at a discounted rate making the cost comparable to the Premier Inn I have been using but the setting is 100% better. I managed to get a room at the back with lovely views over fields and hills beyond.

Other highlights are - friendly, helpful staff, good food (curry of the day cooked by the Indian head chef is a no brainer!), comfortable guest areas to relax inside and out.

My room was OK - clean and adequately equipped but nothing special and a little dated in its style. There was also some noise from above - nothing unreasonable but voices and walking on creaky floors could be heard clearly.

Overall a pleasant stay and I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back and on the top floor are best. Ground floor means you will here creaking floors an...
