My boyfriend and I ate at here a week ago and were very disappointed. The issue was not the fact that I found a piece of plastic in my mashed potato - the waiter was very apologetic and we were not charged for the one meal. However, when we came to pay the bill of £17.20, we only had a £20. The waiter took this and never returned with any change! I'm still gobsmacked - a week later - that they assumed the change was a tip. We had actually tried the pub again after visiting last year which was another disappointing visit as a) I was brought the wrong meal (fair enough, mistakes happen) but the manager then proceeded to berate the poor bloke that took the order in front of the whole pub. So unprofessional - we will not be returning.

We found this pub/restaurant by chance when traveling to Bath for the weekend. We had Sunday lunch that was very good the beef was tender and the vegetables cooked fresh. It was hot and served on a warm plate They have a good selection of beer and cider on offer, go try

We just spent two nights and had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The food's great and there's a good choice of real ales. Nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. The room was comfortable enough and good value for money. Great spot for touring the area, particularly if you're interested in canals. We'd definitely go back.

We didn't really plan to stay here but arrived a day earlier than we planned and this was the only place we could find which had vacancies. Location was fantastic with really nice canal side walks. The service was fantastic from really friendly staff.

Room Tip: All rooms similar as this was just a pub with a few rooms

So the room was not great. The decor is tired and my bedroom certainly needed freshening up. No wifi in rooms (but to be fair this us not promised in the advance booking info) but the pub below however is a different story. Some of the best pub cuisine I have had in many a long year of eating out. Great service from behind the bar and at table. Unpretentious, tasty and well presented. Lots of locals drinking and talking at the bar. A real pub in every sense. Real Ale, great food and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Make the most of the pub.

We visited this pub as our last night on our Canal holiday traveling on the Kennet and Avon Canal.

This is the second time in the last year that we have visited, last time we just had a drink in the bar this time we had a meal to celebrate a Mothering Sunday. In fact had planned our trip so our last night was at Semington in order to visit this pub.

The bar area is small but cosy with a log fire. As a Free House there is a Good selection of beer and wine and seems reasonable priced. When we visited last year there was a live band which was good entertainment, though bar was packed!

The dinning area is well laid out with another open fire. The food is good quality pub grub and well served. The staff throughout are very welcoming and helpful, dealing with both locals and visitors alike.

Shall be visiting again next time we are in the area.

Room Tip: Did not stay in the rooms so can not comment on them.

A group of 8 of us recently had a weekend on a canal barge at Bradford-on-Avon and ate at the pub on the first night and were so impressed that we decided to eat there again on our final night. However as it was a Sunday (and winter) the pub does not serve food. When asked if there was a local takeaway nearby the bar staff offered to let us arrange for the takeaway to be delivered to the pub itself. Not only that, they provided us with the phone number, plates and cutlery to eat with. This was a fantastic gesture as we were moored up below a bridge and we had no way of getting to the takeaway apart from getting a taxi. We feel they really went out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome !!
