My husband and I stayed at the guesthouse last Saturday night, we had a great look around the mountains and arrived in the early afternoon we were greeted, given a tour of the guesthouse and then shown to our room, yes the rooms are small but why would you spend time sitting in your room when the guesthouse has several very pleasant areas to sit and read or just relax. Dinner was lovely and the service was impeccable. After a good nights sleep, even with the friendly possum jumping on the roof, it was up for a nice breakfast and then back to the bustle of the real world . We will be back and bring friends with us.

After unsuccessfully searching high and low for on-mountain accommodation at the eleventh hour my partner and I booked a two-night package at Crackenback Farm with a bit of trepidation after reading some fairly scathing reviews on Tripadvisor. Our concerns were allayed as soon as we arrived; the guesthouse was very inviting, the rooms cosy and perfectly adequate for a short stay and the hosts were friendly yet not too over-bearing.

We enjoyed a delicious three course dinner in-house both nights of our stay and were impressed with the honesty bar selection.

The location of the guesthouse was perfect for us due to its close proximity to both the ski tube and Thredbo; we were able to ski Thredbo one day and Perisher the other which is not something we would have considered if we had stayed on-mountain.

We would highly recommend Crackenback Farm to other skiiers and holidaymakers.

Crackenback farm is in a lovely, quiet location, perfect for a relaxing holiday. The hotel is warm and inviting, with electric blankets on the bed, a cosy lounge area, full-sized billiard table and honour-system bar. There are enough shared spaces to have privacy if you wish. There is a drying room for ski gear. The service is impeccable - the staff are friendly and available when you need them, but not in-your-face. The food was amazing, better than I've had in some expensive Sydney restaurants. The weekend package with dinner was well worth it. There is an area for guests to make tea/coffee and yummy treats left for afternoon tea. It was great being able to use the sauna and pool after a day at Perisher. There were just a few things we thought could be improved - the dusting in both rooms and common areas could be more thorough, the bedroom decor (especially curtains) was a bit tired, the bedroom didn't have individual heating, the pool temperature could have been warmer, and the spa area of the pool wasn't working that well. But none of this detracted from a very enjoyable stay and I'd recommend Crackenback Farm to anyone.

Dear pmblossom,

So good to hear all the feedback from you on your stay with us at the Farm, it makes everyone feel great to ready such lovely comments.
We are always striving to improve the guest experience and your points on ways we could improve are really helpful, we agree on the curtains and looking at installing shutters in the future. On the dusting agree, we can never do enough especially with the open fireplaces it is a constant job and this season we did have a lot of high winds. Pool temperature and spa comments are also noted and will be looked into.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback and suggestions, very much appreciated. Our goal is to exceed our guest expectations. Look forward to looking after you again soon.
Very Best, Marg, Butch and the Crackenback Team

We absolutely loved Crackenback Farm. We were looking for somewhere to stay that was quiet and romantic to spoil ourselves for the long weekend and Crackenback Farm ticked all the boxes. We were very well looked after by the friendly staff, the meals were amazing, the room was very comfortable, clean and tidy - our whole experience was just an absolute pleasure. Can't wait to stay here again next snow season!

My wife and I love farms and snow skiing and Crackenback Farm was the ideal place. Very friendly service from our arrival to departure. We loved being able to ski for the day and come back to a great little warmed swimming pool and then relax in the bar/lounge area along side a cosy fireplace.
Food was top class, slept well and definitely back their next year.

Stairs (basically a ladder) were on extreme angle with no rail.
Milk that's was in the room had lumps in it! And when we informed them, no apology or anything.
$45 for dinner - which I thought was a bit rich
Afternoon tea was a couple biscuits from an arnotts pack and a tiny piece of cake
Breakfast and location was about the only good thing

Dear HayleyAP,

We are very sorry to hear that your stay at Crackenback Farm did not meet your expectations. As a well established business we strive to offer guests a unique mountain Farm experience and always appreciate feedback.

We sincerely apolgise for the milk in your room, this should not have happened. We trust you were able to replace it and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.

In regards to our loft rooms, they do have a wooden ladder that is definitely only suitable for some guests, we always try to encourage guests that do not feel comfortable with this to sleep in our King/queen or twin bed's downstairs and if you have more than two guests to book another room.

We feel that our meals are extremely good value at $45.00 for 3 courses, we are really sorry that you did not see our famous renowned food set in the convenience and comfort of the Farm as value in the Snowy Mountains.

In regards to afternoon tea, again we are sorry that our help yourself style afternoon tea of biscuits and freshly baked home-made cake was not enjoyed and again didn’t fit your expectation.

We are thrilled to hear that you did enjoy our delicious breakfast and fantastic location. Sad that you wouldn’t choose to stay again and hope that you will now accept our apology for the milk incident.

Happy skiing and traveling,
The Young Family
