“Bush setting. Very private”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

We stayed for 2 days in a chalet which we enjoyed a lot. Unfortunately we did not have much time to spend there as we were busy at snow fields.
Current managers are very pleasant unlike what I read about previous managers (Alpine Habitats).
Habits are very spacious unlike most of the other places we have been to. Underfloor heating is excellent. Bushland at the doorstep gives a very private and a relaxing feeling. Glass walls give an inside out feeling.
Visit to Wild Brumby Distillery and cafe is a must as well as to Crackenback farm restaurant. This place is a great place to be in spring and summer to enjoy the outdoors.

During our recent stay at Eco Crackenback we enjoy the 'as new' eco habitats. Our family of four were perfectly accommodated in the 2 bedrooms. We particularily enjoyed the contemporary interiors, with heated polished concrete floors and a warming ethonal fire place, making Eco Crackenback the perfect winter retreat after a day on the slopes. The location was perfect! Close to Jindabyne, close to the ski tube and super easy access to Thredbo. Not to mention the choice of two wonderful restaurants within walking distance: Brumby Distillery for breakfast and lunch and the Crackenback Farm for fabulous dinners. Finally our hosts Kathleen and Tyler were amazing! We felt very welcome and no request was too much trouble. I would highly recommend if you are looking for accomodation that is new and spacious, as well as convenient. If you have ever stayed in Thredbo you will be aware that what is on offer is cramped and very tired. Eco Crackenback is like a breath of fresh (mountain!) air.

Room Tip: There is some noise from the main road (Alpine Highway?) that heads to Thredbo and the Ski Tube. Hig...

I have previously reviewed these outstanding cottages, but I'd made a mistake regarding the ownership. If you are looking at this site now then you have the right place, but you may also have known this place in the past as "Alpine Habitats". It is under new management, changed its name and is now under new management by Kosciusko First National's holiday booking team Jindabyne Accommodation Centre. Bookings can be made on the website www.jindabyneaccommodationcentre.com.au or emailing bookings@ecocrackenback.com.au.
Kathleen, the Manager, lives on site and was very helpful.
The location of these private cottages and their astounding quality and amenity are the highlights. Polished concrete floors with under-floor heating, a large living area with a beautiful outlook. Anywhere where I can walk out the door and take spectacular photos is five-and-a-half stars, and this place is great. It is in the middle of a great expanse of empty countryside and the night sky is spectacularly clear. It is right next to the Wild Brumby Distillery and the far end (where we were) is about one kilometre to the Crackenback Farm restaurant (which I have reviewed elsewhere). It is very spread out so my tip is that unless you bring a torch it is very dark to walk there, or drive. The place is crawling with kangaroos which is lovely too. A great place to stay, and if you had a family or a pair of couples the place is large and comfortable for that number. Looking forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: We were in Cottage 19 which is at the far end of the complex, and very private

We recently stayed at this beautiful location. The habitats are now under new management and Kathleen and Tyler made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We loved being just across the road from The Wild Brumby Distillery where we enjoyed some Schnapps and wonderful food. It was great to wake up to Kangaroos outside our Habitat. Heaps of room for the kid's to run around and the habitat was lovely and warm. Will definitely be coming back during the snow season and will recommend to our friends and family.
