Having looked at several locations for our wedding we selected East Lodge. We fell in love with the venue immediately and the initial staff we had contact with were also very good. Throughout the whole planning process East Lodge staff were great. I made many (probably too many!) phone calls, visited on lots of occasions and was always made to feel important.

I decided to stay the night prior to my wedding with my parents. I stayed in the Haddon room and it was excellent. Although a little cold when I first entered the extra radiator already provided in the room soon made it very cosy. My parents were equally impressed with their room.

From the second I came down to breakfast (which was superb)on the morning of my wedding I was made to feel very much the centre of attention. The staff were excellent at calming my nerves and showing people to my room e.g. hairdresser, bridesmaid and photographer.

After the ceremony all of our guests commented on the fantastic venue. One guest told us that our reception drink of mulled wine was "the best ever!" The food was some of the best I have ever tasted and our guests could not tell us enough how much they enjoyed it.

The whole day was relaxed and brilliantly organised and at no point did we feel like "just another wedding". The staff really could not do enough to make it our special day. Although we had limited the amount of children present at no point were they made to feel unwelcome.

We had the gold package which meant that the hotel really did feel like ours for the whole wedding. All of our friends and family commented on the quality and comfort of the rooms. Our wedding flowers had been placed on the breakfast tables in the morning which was a lovely idea.

The morning after our wedding all our presents, flowers, disposable camaras, music CD, cake etc were neatly collected together making it so easy for us.

Overall we can't speak highly enough of East Lodge. We thank them very much for making our wedding perfect!

I've just been going through our wedding photo's and thought it's never too late to add my sincere thank you for a perfect day. My Family all came from the north and stayed the night before we were thoroughly looked after. On the day of the Wedding we had a fantastic Breakfast served in the derwent dining room.
the wedding was at 1.30pm after a cloudy Morning the sun suddenly appeared and it must have been the hottest day of the year perfect for a wedding at such a beautiful location.
My wife to be was drivin to the hotel by her dad in a new mercedes car. All the guests went into the wye room for the ceremony and the music was played for my wifes entrance.
After the beautiful civil ceremony they served us canapies and pimms on the lawn by the lake as our photographer got some wonderful pictures. We went in for our wedding breakfast and had Cod Fishcakes with tomato fondue, Medallions of beef with fondant potato and mushroom sauce then assiette of strawberry for dessert delicious. After the meal we cut the cake and then speeches with sparkling wine. After all this we all went outside as it was a glorious day & early evening for the staff to set up the room for Evening they could not do enough for both our families.
When all was set up we had a disco till 11.30pm and a BBQ at 9 with all what you would expect burgers Sauages Steaks Marinaided chicken and kebabs with salads and corn on the cob and jacket potaotes. Too much food but we had a good go at it. along with an entertaining disco the night went with a swing.
Off to bed at Midnight to our gorgeous four poster bed in the bridal suite and a very restful night. We all congregated in the Wye room again for breakfast for a true taditional full English. Check out was 11am but we never wanted the time to end. The staff were fantastic helpfull and nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible from the Breakfast to the Wedding Meal to the BBQ we could not fault a thing. I would defiantely reccomend this hotel for any wedding or function it's a little piece of paradise tucked away in the derbyshire peak district.

We stayed overnight at this hotel after attending a large family celebration lunch there. The food was superb at the lunch, and also at the dinner we had later and at breakfast the next morning. I would eat there any time.
We had booked a luxury room with a bed without a footboard (as my husband is tall) at a half-price rate of £180. We`ve stayed in good hotels all over the world, but in this case we were glad we had not paid the full rate, because we felt that the room (room 9) was over-priced anyway for what it was, for although it was pleasant and well-furnished, and had a comfortable bed, there was no wow factor, no hospitality tray and no working internet service. The toiletries were poor. Worst of all, having three external walls and four windows, the room was cold. The hotel staff are obviously used to this problem (they mentioned the external walls), and provided three free-standing heaters to supplement the radiators, which at night were blocked by heavy curtains. They offered to move us, but they only had beds with foot boards in the available rooms. At length, the room did warm up, but the central heating was turned off overnight and the room quickly became freezing. As a result, we passed a very bad and uncomfortable night, and faced a cold bathroom in the morning. I complained about this when we checked out in the morning, but the receptionist merely said she would pass on our comments. I felt that a reduction in the already over-inflated price would have been the least they could have offered in compensation. We left feeling very disappointed and let down.

Having visited East Lodge earlier this year, we returned again for another wonderful weekend at this gem of a hotel in the heart of Derbyshire. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff at East Lodge and you are treated as individuals and not just another number as often happens in other hotels at which we have stayed. What more can be said other than that East Lodge is just perfection.

My husband booked this hotel for a surprise 2night break to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. It was a lovely location, the staff were extremely polite, presentable and helpful. We had an initlal problem with the room temperature but this was swiftly resolved. The room was a bit small but beautifully furnished and appointed. The standards of cleanliness, quality and tidiness throughout the hotel were second to none. We dined in the restaurant due to its reputation, and were not disappointed. This was one of the reasons the hotel was chosen. The menu choice, presentation of food, quality and taste were superb - and the service was excellent too. Breakfasts were as you would expect - plenty of choice, waitress served and quality food. An experience not to be missed and we would certainly make a return visit and recommend this hotel to everyone we could.

A thoroughly enjoyable two night break. We received a warm welcome and all staff were polite, friendly, approachable and very well turned out at all times. The room was well appointed, warm and most comfortable. All food was of a very high standard. We will certainly return to this hotel based on our experiences. Thank you to all staff for such a great weekend.

This is a homey, comfy, lovely place. Feels like a home. Rooms have slanted floors and ours had 3 messages carved in the window glass from the 1800's. Yet the cleanliness and modern bathrooms make it up-to-date. Our room lacked nothing except the closet was so close to the bed that only one person at a time could use it. Small complaint. Bed excellent. Quiet. lovely view. Pleasant grounds with a beautiful garden. Food excellent. Highest quality. Staff superb--warm, caring and professional. Great location. 10 minutes from Chatsworth. Not much more to Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall.
