What a lucky girl I am to be treated to three days at East Lodge in Rowsley. East Lodge describes itself as - Timeless, elegant and memorable , personally I think these words dont do it enough justice. The ambience was perfect, the food was second to none and the staff were very friendly and professional . Who ever thought up the idea of roasted quail and chicken consommé garnished with a quail and smoked bacon club sandwich, Scotch egg and a little sausage roll - is a pure genius!! I cant stress enough get yourselves over to East Lodge , Rowsley , Peak District and have the time of your life !

We stayed at East Lodge for a Friday and Saturday night in November 2010 for a pre-Christmas break. The hotel offered the room at half price – we guess that there are not many weddings in November.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed by several staff. The room was not ready, but we were able to leave our bags whilst we went off to explore.

The (Superior) Room was on the small side but very well appointed with even a TV in the bathroom (connected to the room TV). The room had a safe, which was (strangely) not bolted down. But we guessed that any thief would look conspicuous trying to leave with a safe under their arm. Another small gripe is that there were not many storage drawers.

The bathroom (bath and separate shower) was clean with superior toiletries supplied. The towels were large and nice and thick.

We were surprised that the room window was not double glazed. And whilst this was not a problem from a room temperature point of view (indeed the heating controls were easy to use and kept the room at the right temperature) it meant that there was a lot of condensation on the windows in the morning.

We dined at the restaurant on both nights – we had booked the restaurant before arriving. We would recommend this because there are no other eating places nearby and Saturday night was particularly busy.

The food was excellent – tasty and well presented, with an interesting selection of dishes.

The hot breakfast was excellent. However, whilst there was a selection of fruit this did appear to be a bit of an afterthought with very little choice.

All the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

All in all an excellent hotel to explore the Peak District, although we thought that for the full price it would have been expensive for what was on offer.

The staff are So friendly right from greeting you at the Reception, up until you leave. My husband and I stayed here at the end of November when they had 2ft of snow, could not have stayed at a more friendly hotel. The food was excellent both dinner and breakfasts.
Going back next year in the summer to look round the gardens.

We have been back again to East Lodge. It is as near to perfection as anybody can get, from getting out of the car in the car park to getting back in when leaving you are treated to a weekend of pampering. Sitting in the conservatory for Tea and home made biscuits is usually our first stop, then off to the luxury of the comfortable warm rooms to relax and get ready for the beautiful dinner chosen from an excellent menu, with something on it for all tastes. From the amuse to the petit fours the food is nothing short of perfect. The new breakfast menu has a wonderful choice, something for everybody. The staff are extremely polite, and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay a memorable one. We are already planning our next visit, and hope it will be sooner rather than later.

My wife and I spent a couple of nights in this delightful hotel. We arrived just as Sunday lunch was finishing, the hotel was packed with people enjoying their lunch. On arrival we were met in the car park by a member of staff who insisted in carrying our luggage, on entry to the hotel we were met by one of the owners who gave us a great welcome to East Lodge. We had booked a superior room and it was a delight to go through the door. Everything in the room was to a high standard and the young lady who had accompanied us to our room gave a full introduction to the hotel. It was to be the same high standard for the duration of our visit. All staff were very friendly. We had dinner on both evenings and can only say it was to a very high standard. Breakfasts were more than adequate and served by the same friendly staff. To us this was a diamond in the Dales.

We got married at East Lodge in September. The whole experience was fantastic from beginning to end. The staff took all the work and stress out of planning and were the real key to the smooth running on the day itself. They had clearly been well briefed on the timeline of our day. All the rooms were supurb, clean with a real feeling of luxury and all our guests enjoyed their stay. Only slight niggle was our kettle and tv's not working, possibly due to a power cut earlier in the day. The food was amazing and served quickly with beauiful presentation and breakfast the morning after was lovely too. Slight suggestion for improvement would be to have a couple of rooms clean and ready earlier in the day (approx 11.30) for guests to get changed in. We absolutely loved the place and it holds a special meaning for us. We will return again for meals and a stay in the future.

East Lodge was the first venue we visited in February when our daughter and her fiancee set a wedding date. All other alternatives visited paled in comparison .We met with Charlotte who from our very first visit gave us confidence that the smallest detail would be addressed and that the wedding plans would progress without stress or worry and the wedding day would be the culmination of perfect organisation, collaboration and would be everything we wished for. On each visit we were greeted with care and friendliness and came away feeling that we mattered, we were not just another booking! The wedding day was perfect..the hotel was entirely at our disposal and there was no intrusion from anyone not attending our wedding. Charlotte and Emma's organisation was 'seamless.' The wedding service was held in the hotel in a room overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside views. The wedding reception followed and when the starter was served the buzz word around the room was wow! The meal was absolutely excellent, mouthwatering and served in style. Anyone with special dietary requirements were served without fuss as prearranged.
The evening buffet included hot and cold food all beautifully presented and served. The evening disco was well organised and run and requests were all played alongside music for all ages and tastes. Those of us staying overnight enjoyed luxurious and well equipped rooms with most comfortable beds in a peaceful setting to reflect on and savour one of the best days of our lives. Breakfast was a further culinary joy and our orders for cooked breakfast were carefully served by Emma and Dominic with precise timing so everything was eaten whilst hot and appetising i.e no horrors of cold toast etc.
Our whole family have no hesitation in highly recommending East Lodge as the ideal venue within the most beautiful setting for the most perfect wedding day.
We congratulate the management and staff for their sheer professionalism and consistently high standards of care and support throughout the process of collaboration and planning for our special wedding day.
I would just like to add one constructive suggestion and that is re the departure of the wedding guests who stay in the hotel overnight. We all experienced a need to allow enough time for gathering together before departure to reflect on the previous day's events over a coffee and without pressure. We felt that perhaps this time could be prearranged taking account of the hotel timetable of events of the day and therefore departure could be unhurried but with an agreed departure time
