I took my mum here for afternoon tea. The hotel and the grounds are lovely, and afternoon tea is served in the conservatory. Staff were wonderfully friendly and attentive from start to finish. The food was very good: finger sandwiches which were fresh and well-filled (crusts removed of course!) a well-presented selection of sweets (which I didn't eat much of as I didn't have room) and scones with jam and clotted cream. The reason I didn't have much room for the sweets was because of the scones - they were incredible. Fresh from the oven and perfectly baked. I love afternoon tea and have been to Claridges twice, Liberty, The Sanderson and The Chelsea Teapot, and East Lodge's scones are the best I've had. I requested that what we had left was boxed up so we could take away, and they were more than happy to do that. We didn't get a choice of tea, but at £17.95 pp it was excellent value.
