Ideal Hotel with beautiful grounds, set away from the hustle and bustle of normal life, where you can take part in activities organised daily, or just chill out doing your own thing without peer pressure . If you fancy a stroll down to the very quiet village, there's a few houses, old church, school and a pub, other than the exercise it's about 1 hour's walk there and back.
The Holme Lacy House itself is steeped in history from the 14ct.,the rooms , restaurant and staff cannot be faulted, the food in my case as a Coeliac, therefore Gluten Free, had other guests clambering in disbelief as the range of starters, main and dessert I had to select from, which I chose at breakfast so chef could have prepared for my evening meal, first class.
The sports facilities, swimming pool and evening entertainment were also excellent .
There's no local bus service so we had our coach take us to Gloucester one day and Hereford the next, weather was wet, but so what, we were on holiday, therefore you take whatever nature throws at you, making the most of it.
This was our second visit to Holme Lacy, we weren't impressed when we first visited 2 yrs ago, obviously changes for the better have been made, a thoroughly relaxing enjoyed holiday .

Room Tip: Front 2nd floor - # 307 ,2 tele's, garden and village view slightly obscured by balustrade, de...

Just returned from a weekend in Holme Lacey with 3 friends, we all booked 3 single rooms myself as a treat a historic which i was assured had lift access, my other 2 friends had single rooms, on arrival, I was told the lift in the old house was out of order, and that the only lift working was the sevice with access via the restaurant and kitchains, this must have been against all health and safety rules! This lift only went as far as the secound floor, as my room was in the attic on floor I was still left with a steep staircase to climb. I suk ffer from a heart condition so I requested a change of rooms but was told this was not possible.
The first night we went to see a first class show but I left with a walk back to my room via a dark restaurant and kitchain, the following morning I asked to the duty manager to see if he could sort something out but no one contacted me, so I spent the the next two evenings in my room watching TV.
Someome from Holmelacy should learn some customer service skills.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms in the old house.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable 4 night mid week break at Holme Lacy House Hotel, an elegant stately home in Herefordshire. The Hotel is part of the Warners Group. The food was excellent and served in the wonderful Bremner Scott Restaurant in all its splendour.
The room was spacious and had everything that we needed. It was very clean. There were many activities to do throughout the day and entertainment every night. We used the Leisure centre every day.Even though the weather was poor we enjoyed the break very much.

As a couple in the 40-45 year old age bracket we did find that most of the other guests were probably much older.

Room Tip: We went for a "Signature Room". The rooms are bigger than standard rooms with a King size...

Just come back from 5 days at Holme Lacy where even thought the weather was not great we had an excellent time. The rooms are excellent - we were in an Ambassador Room which was extremely clean and the bed linen and towels were changed regularly. Lesley was our cleaner and anything you wanted she would get it for you - she was also very friendly. Although our room was almost next to the entertainment pavilion we did not suffer from any noise. The staff in the restaurant were very good and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent as there was lots of choice and something for everyone.

The entertainment in the evening was extremely good and the entertainment staff worked so hard. All of them were good singers and the dancers were so energetic and were always smiling. I think they were some of the best we have seen at Warners and we have been to many of their hotels.

We managed a walk around the gardens, although the weather was rather dull ,and we enjoyed all the gardens and lakes. It will be lovely in the spring and summer when all the flowers and trees are out.

Room Tip: We were in room 254 which as I say was very near to the Pavilion where the evening entertainment tak...

The enigma of Holme Lacy is the contrast between the wonderful entertainment and facilities such as the indoor pool, gym, tennis, shooting, archery etc, contrasted with the very poor main meals & restaurant service. As usual vegetarians come off worst, but the service issue is more to do with insufficient staff at both breakfast & evening meal times, than staff not being efficient. Most of the staff were literally running to keep customers happy, as were the two porters, who were challenged to handle the luggage of 250 guests who arrived almost simultaneously, so expect to wait up to two hours for your bags.
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, and has a very interesting history if in part somewhat ghoulish, making the guided tour a worthwhile experience. while the proximity to the stunning Wye valley makes this a good touring base.

Room Tip: The main house rooms are a little tired but the extension rooms are good walk from the restaurant.

We travelled from Norfolk, quite a trek, especially with the wet weather! We were greeted by very friendly staff outside the reception who directed us to the car parks. Porters were on hand and offered to unload our luggage and take it to our rooms.
The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very spacious. Although our room was quite a walk along corridors from the historic hotel there are lifts and several staircases. All areas of the hotel were well heated and the staff were warm and welcoming. The food went down well with varied menus, I can safely say food choices to fit most tastes.
Unfortunately late one afternoon the hotel was blessed with a three hour power cut. After a few flickers the emergency power cut in and many guests at this point didn't realise there was a problem. We expected dinner to be limited and chaotic, however the food was served cooked in emergency measures. We were kept informed and given an expected time for power to return. This evening the restaurant was filled with much humour and an enormous cheer when the light was full restored. Well done to all the waiters and waitresses you did an amazing job looking after everyone.
The entertainment was second to none especially on Saturday evening we were blown away by the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute. The Jersey Boys were so good we have booked to go again when they return to Holme Lacy later this year.
As you can tell we were more than happy with our weekend away and are pleased to say we also made some good friends.
The only downside was the poor mobile signal and as we rely on emails to run a business were a little stressed that the wifi failed for over a day. Come on Warners spend some money to allow guests the Internet in all rooms please.....

We look forward to our return and recommend Holme Lacy very highly.

Room Tip: 205 has a four poster bed if you feel inclined. We found the signature room more than adequate.
