Owner description: Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is now home to the 15th Duke and his family. Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: classic cars rallies, The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, the country fair, vintage airplane rally and autumn deer walks.

After receiving a gift voucher for two afternoon teas we were delighted that the weather was with us and we could walk around the lovely gardens before sitting down to a wonderful afternoon tea for two. Finger sandwiches, fresh scones with cream and jam finally topping off with dainty cakes. We had to have a doggy bag as we were so full after the first two tiers. The Woburn blend tea is also very palatable and I wish we had bought some at the end to take home. All in all a wonderful afternoon out.

Your in for a big surprise if you haven't visited Woburn Abbey and gardens for some time.
Over the past few years very much time effort and money has been spent on restoring and reinvigorating the beautiful Gardens designed by Humphrey Repton. Under the care of the present Duke and ably executed by Martin Towsey and his team of gardeners the garden is a delight to walk around at any time of the year, but especially in the spring. The wild orchids flower usually in June.
A great day out and free with HHA membership

went to Woburn abbey for afternoon cream tea on 29 may very good value for money and you could tour the gardens ,my only disappointment was that you did not take tea in the abbey but in a tea room, so it was not so special

Visited Woburn Abbey a few months ago and had a great time in the Abbey and the gardens. The rooms in the house are very elaborate and equal to some of the extravagant rooms you can see in some palaces we have visited. The grotto was unique and probably our favourite part of the house.

The garden is well maintained and there is a good variety of architecture and nature to see throughout the garden. They were renovating old features to a modern standard during our visit such as the old aviary and they are nice features to be adding to the garden.
