We went here on a Thursday afternoon. There were about 5 tables of people.

We had 2 jacket potatoes followed by cake and scones. The jacket potatoes were simple but tasty and the portions a good size. The cake was a large portion and very moist and delicious-probably not home made but nice none the less. The scones, jam and cream were DELICIOUS! The scones were home made and I highly recommend them. Again simple but tasty and really good value (scones were £2.50 for one or for £5 you could get a pot of tea for one and 2 scones). The tea was loose leaf.

The service wasn't the best but it wasn't bad either. We didn't wait to be seated or to order and our food didn't take long either. Ordering dessert and getting the bill was quick too. No the man serving who I think was the owner wasn't overly friendly but he was polite and said hi and goodbye and a prego here and there and the service wasn't bad. He was the only one serving.

In terms of decor, it doesn't look much but again it wasn't bad and very quaint. There are plenty of tables.

No it's not the Ritz. It is homely and quaint and very reasonable value for money. I would highly recommend!

My wife and I stopped at Caproli for a light lunch and both agreed that it was the worst meal we had eaten in several years.

I ordered a toasted ham sandwich - simple enough you would think - but the bread was of the thinnest 'value' variety as was the ham while even the English Mustard (which came in a packet but only after asking twice) completely lacked flavour. Together they made for a lunch with all the flavour of damp cardboard,

My wife ordered a jacket potato with prawns and the prawns (should they really be called that when they are less than a centimetre long?) were tasteless and had clearly come from a can.

The only good news is that several hours have passed and we don't feel ill yet.

We won't be going to Caprioli again!

I know us club cyclists can seem like a swarm of locusts arriving at a cafe, but in this case we were about 20-strong and arrived in three separate groups.

The 'waiter'/'maitre d'/'proprietor' (don't know how he'd prefer to be addressed - 'grump-in-chief' would fit) greeted the two of us that were sat at a table by the fireplace, with "This is reserved. Sit over there". We'd missed the hand-written scrap of paper.

We were largely invisible. The air given out by the only chap we saw was that we were all an irritation and getting in the way of him doing whatever it was that he really wanted to be doing. Think a 'passive aggressive' Bernard Black or Basil Fawlty.

The couple of waitresses that we did see were cheery and polite - but didn't hold back the atmosphere exuded by the chief.

As for food - the leaf-tea was nice, and the toasted tea-cake adequate; but the scones looked small and cheap. Not overly expensive (especially for Woburn).

However - I won't set foot in the place again. Service was so poor that hopefully word will travel, it's already my anecdote-du-jour. One of our number sat outside with a cake from the shop rather than enter after visiting once in the past... why oh why didn't he tell the rest of us!

Stopped here with a large group people all ordering various items of refreshment. The general consensus of opinion was very poor service, poor quality food and drink and the most miserable proprietor and staff. We made an attempt to engage, but he was sullen and un friendly - we felt unwelcome. We will not be returning!

Visited on a Saturday, it wasn't very busy. As we walked in a man came out of the kitchen we said hello, no reply .We sat in the back room near what could have been an open fire on a cold January day, the fire was unlit and the room looked like the owner was in the middle of having a clear out and had given up. We all made a choice from the limited but reasonably priced menu and waited and waited. Nothing. So we left and had a meal at the very busy pub across the road.
