“Excellent meal and brilliant service. Highly recommended!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

I have been to the Royal Oak in Woburn with my girlfriend and friends few times now. Its a very friendly and warm pub and always has great friendly service. The food is very high quality and the home-made pies are superb! Wether its a meal out with your girlfriend, a Sunday lunch, or just a drink with your friends - this is a great place to go.

“Excellent country pub, warm welcome and great food in a lovely village”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

This was our first visit to this pub and we will return, without a doubt.

I've spent the majority of the last 30 years living in a village setting with everything that comes with that. The Royal Oak fits perfectly in with its environment in the lovely village of Woburn.

We walked in to the locals and a couple of well - behaved labradors sitting around the bar. The locals gave us the usual once over and then continued with their banter. Add to this a touch of quaint disorganisation, good manners and a warm welcome and you have the Royal Oak. If you prefer a sterile, boring setting with no character, don't come here and don't moan if you do.

The menu is quite limited but that is the way to achieve good quality and the food is home-made so accept a limited wait but it's worth it. We had beef and red wine pie and Lamburger. The pie did have some a small amount of grissle in it but essentially the meal was delicious. The Lamburger was as good as it gets - excellent. We felt the main courses were good value for money in todays overpriced world but we didn't have starters as they did seem proportionally expensive.

Will we return - absolutely Yes

“Great value for money home cooked food.”
Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

I would describe the Oak as a place to enjoy traditional home cooked food with a touch of flair. The menu is not extensive, but the quality is excellent. Home made pies packed with meat. Rib Eyes steaks full of flavour and perfectly cooked and all well presented.

If you are sick of gastro style or over priced a la carte menus and just want well cooked, well presented food at sensible prices, then I definitely recommend the Royal Oak.

Tommy, the chef (note: my bother is a Michelin chef and so I know this guy can def cook) told me that he buys all the food fresh each day and the landlord and staff make visiting this traditional pub a very pleasant experience.

Yes they let in dogs, but it's all part of the very unpretentious down to earth atmosphere.

“Excellent food - Worth waiting for..”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

The Royal Oak is well worth a visit, the food appears to be prepared freshly on site by one chef/person so be prepared to wait, we felt more than worth it. We went on Saturday night and went for the steak and one of the specials, Braised lamb, both were delicious, Woburn can be pricey but there are options and this is definitely one of the best alternatives to breaking the bank!
