“Lunch special is joke”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

It took 3 hours for us to eat 3 courses.

Although keenly priced the lunch menu is shocking... the portions are so so small that they reduce the economic benefits of dining from this kind of menu.

Service was also very poor- I didn't get bread with my soup and sides dishes of veg and potatoes were brought out 12 minutes after the main was served!!!! 2 waiters for the whole restaurant, both with a comically relaxed attitude for a Saturday afternoon lunch time service.

One of the party ordered north sea dab as the main, there were not even 4 teaspoons of fish to eat.... just bones and skin.

“Sensible fish based food with some lunchtime offers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

Woburn is well worth a visit with its shops on the high street and the walks around Woburn Abbey that are free as a right of way!
If you are in the area, you have only a few choices for food in Woburn itself, and of these, the better food experiences for sensibly priced grub have more often than not been at Loch Fyne.

I have visited Woburn's Loch Fyne around 5-6 times in the past year. In summary:
1. The prices for the food are generally sensible (special deals for lunch times have been available).
2. Most things on the menu have been well received.
3. Staff will do their best to accommodate specific requests and help with children's food options as far as they can.
4. The staff normally do try and make an effort to make the experience good.

That said, some of the menu items have been a little disappointing including the Seafood Platter being quite modest to share as a starter and the amount of de-veining (you know what this is!) necessary for the prawns etc.

“Mothering Sunday”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

As usual......the food is always very good here and that is why we keep coming back. But also as usual the service and management is organised chaos!!! We had a table for 4, ordered our food etc.... Then we are told that the two fish platters we had ordered wont fit on the table !!!! In fact the two shell bowls took up the whole of the table...we suggested they only gave us one and that they changed it when it got full.....they agreed to the former but failed to do the later !!! No room for a finger bowl which was much needed. We had to remind them that we had ordered bread and olives. Obviously after the main course of crab, prawns in shells, oysters etc our paper napkins were soiled and discarded with the dirty plates. When our desserts arrived ( after a second order because they had run out of our first choice and didn't tell us when they gave us the menu or when they took our order) one member of our party had to request a new napkin.....they got it but even though it was obvious all the rest of us required the same no offer was made..... The table next to us ordered bread and it was all brown so they requested some white and they were told it had run out...
For a restaurant which was fully booked it is shameful to run out of something as simple as bread on an expected busy Sunday lunch...heaven help those who had booked for an evening meal.....(scraps from under the table spring to mind !)..bread and certain desserts, running out at lunchtime ! Only confirms the poor management of the establishment..........we asked when the manager was returning from maternity leave and evidently she is not......so it really is time for this eatery to have a decent manager again....we have put up with a year of temps and a surly young man who has no idea how to treat his customers or overcome problems like fitting the orders on a table.
We have persisted with eating here at least once a month, in the knowledge that normal service would be resumed when the manager returned now that is not the case we will seriously have to continue changing our views and using an alternative establishment.....it's only saving grace is that the chef is still as good as ever.
Come on Loch Fyne train your staff to a standard which meets the requirements of the sort of clientele you can expect in this superb location.

“Very good food but ...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

Have eaten here several times and the food is generally good as it was on this occasion (particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon ashet). The service was fine and we had a table in the quieter side of the restaurant which was great. Here's the but - my voucher for 25% off I was told would not be valid as one of us was ordering a la carte and the other from the set menu, whilst I was aware that it would not apply to the set menu there was no mention in the terms and conditions regarding not applying to one meal. I pointed this out and was told "generally we don't" - to my mind this is is about company policy with black and white rules, no "generally". The voucher was ultimately taken.

“Best Catch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014

An excellent selection of fish dishes. The best being fish of the day or choices from the daily menu. Vegetable choice limited. French fries could be crisper.
