“Good location for visiting the city”
Reviewed 13 September 2009

Stayed at the hotel for one night. Check-in was smooth and the lady informed me of all the necessities (food serving times, location of bar/restaurant).
The hotel was a 5-10 minute walk from the station and not too far from the shops in the centre of town. Nothing much happening outside the hotel, but there was a pub and a Starbucks nearby.
My room was perfectly adequate in size. Queen size bed, space for hanging your clothes, flat screen tv and the spaceship bathroom which had a decent size shower and plenty of hot water.
As previous writers have mentioned there is a bit of construction outside so not the nicest of views however I found the hotel to be very quiet.
Only had two things to complain about. One was that the bathroom wasn't entirely clean. There were hairs left in sink and in shower from a previous guest's shaving session which wasn't too pleasant. The other thing was the little work space by the window where you can connect to the internet is very small. The cable provided to connect to their high speed internet was not long enough for me to connect to the internet while my laptop was placed on the desk. I therefore did not use the internet as I would have had to sit with my laptop in my lap and found it too awkward.
I did not use the bar or restaurant but saw the breakfast that was served in the morning and it looked perfectly fine for the £5.50 they charge.
Would stay here again if I come back to the area.

I think this was supposed to be a bargain hotel, but the problems made any £ savings a mere hopeful thought.

The parking is non existent, you have to park over behind the train station (note, BEHIND the station, not in front, which is 20 minute parking - forewarned is forearmed!)

The internet is £10, premium TV is extra, too. The food at the bar was so-so, okay for a hotel, but the room was VERY HOT! Since there's no wifi, one must sit on a very uncomfortable bench by the window to plug in the ethernet cable, which is just as well because the A/C wasn't working, only heat was coming out, so being close to the window was fine.

Unfortunately, the window won't open more than 4" (safety?) so it made for a steamy, uncomfortable evening. It was warm outside, and definitely MUCH warmer in the room.

The view's pretty dismal, too - maybe when the construction's finished it will be better?

I just returned from a two-day trip to Bristol, and stayed at Ibis Temple Meads with my friend. The hotel is perfectly situated for people using public transport to get to the city from the airport, as the airport bus stops at Temple Meads station, which is just a five-minute walk to the hotel. Our room was very clean, larger than expected, and we particularly loved the style of the room: wooden floors, no wallpaper but well-painted walls, a flat-screen tv, a good bed and a decent bathroom. Breakfast was good as well, much better than expected, and the chocolate muffins were delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful too. The only downside is that the hotel is located in an area that is being redeveloped, which means that is not very attractive to hang out in, but we were in the city centre the whole time anyway. And the most important thing is that we were not hearing any noise from the building, just a train passing by now and then. I would definitely stay here again.
