Review of Bristol Aquarium

Bristol Aquarium

Great location and a valuable part of Bristol's attractions;but it's all a bit uninspiring. The booking system is faultless, initial welcome by the staff excellent and the shop and cafe area work well. It's just that the journey round, information giving and exhibits are a bit more the year 2000 than 2014. You can walk, look, see and read but it doesn't engage the visitor fully.
Pricing is good, so value cannot be unduly faulted, but so much more could be done with it. Needs a review and refocus.

The displays were lovely and the greenhouse atmosphere was interesting. However we've been to aquariums before and this didn't stand out from the crowd. A lot of money for the time took to walk round.

Living in Bristol I'd never done much of the tourist stuff so thought it would be nice to do so.
The aquarium is not massive but a fair size seeing as it's in the middle of a city. Only takes about an hour to go round. It states that it is pushchair friendly which it is as they have no steps and it's all ramps, however having very heavy doors everywhere that aren't automatic kind of defeats the idea!!
We stayed around for a couple of the talks which was informative, the one about behind the scenes was interesting but difficult to hear when part of a big group as not everyone can fit in the pump room.
Lots of different fish and marine life good choice to look at.

This was one of the most disappointing places we visited during our visit to Bristol. It was quite expensive to get in although they stamp your hand, so you can come and go all day. We got a discount on entry via the Citysightseeing bus. We visited during the heatwave so it was extremely hot inside and out. Personally I would give this a miss.

I found it a bit of a short trip thought we could make at least half a day of it but was finished looking quickly. Beautiful octopus and nice displays. Bit pricey for what you get but nice to see the bundling put to good use!
