“Good city Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2012

Stayed one night in August. We have stayed before when it was 'Jury's'. Let's face it, Bristol does not ooze great city centre Hotels. The rooms at the Bristol are very comfortable and quiet. Reception staff were polite and efficient as were all of the staff. They bent the rules so that we could take breakfast on the day we arrived. The location, if you want to be anywhere near the floating Harbour and the lively part of bristol, is great. We shall be using the Hotel again.

Room Tip: Take a Superior if possible - they are on the top floors- well, ours was.

We checked in about 2pm, but the room was not ready. “Would we care to wait, and have a complimentary drink? The room should be ready in about 30 mins.” An hour and a quarter later we we still waiting, but it was ready soon after that.
First impressions of the room, on the 5th floor, were good: light, spacious, good view over the water, good storage space, large double shower, comfortable bed, safe, free wi-fi. Afternoon sun made the room very warm. Small amount of ventilation from partly-opening windows. Free-standing a/c unit -- noisy and ineffective. The room was therefore very warm at night, but it was otherwise a comfortable and practical space.
Nespresso coffee machine (old model) didn't work. More importantly, the hand basin was almost completely blocked - took ages to empty. Complained at front desk. Several of the staff do not speak English well. Took a while to get them to understand the problem. We were promised that it would be fixed, but of course it wasn't.
Next day it wouldn't empty at all - more requests to get it fixed, this time successfully. It must be obvious to housekeeping staff that problems like this exist. Why don't they get it seen to?
So, overall, a mixed impression, more favourable than not. Location is very good, which is important. Don't bother with hotel's expensive breakfast. Lots of cheap options nearby.

Room Tip: Try to book a room with view over the water.

I was here for a weekend and I must it was a fantastic experience. The location is superb for friends/couples, just by the harbour. A lovely city to visit. The staff were very friendly. Great experience overall. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

My heart sank as I rounded the corner and saw the rather brutal facade of this hotel. Once inside, however it is a very different story. The surroundings are airy and elegant. Check in was completed in under 2 minutes. Standard rooms are quite small but furnished to a high standard with comfortable beds. The toiletries provided are high quality. Breakfast was fine, a standard buffet with all you would expect. It can be noisy at night but what do you expect in a city centre hotel on a waterfront surrounded by bars etc. I really commend the staff. They all really seemed to care that you were being well looked after. I would stay here again.

Stayed at the Bristol hotel for one Friday night with my girlfriend. The hotel is very nice inside and the staff were very friendly on arrival. The room we had was very small but accommodated our needs with a decent ensuite. The room had all the usual bits and bobs like Freeview TV. The best thing I think about the room was hat the mirror didn't steam up when using the shower..

The hotel is in an excellent location, right next to the quay. (Less than a minute walk). The quay has many bars, restaurants and places to relax; especially in the sun. However you could hear VERY loud music in our room. We were unsure if it was from the hotel itself or a nearby bar.

Car parking is located in the adjoining NCP which when you check out, the hotel will stamp your card so that you don't have to pay. This also covers you all day - ideal if you check out early then want to go for some food and browse the shops like we did.

There is also a newsagents next door. We didn't use the bar or eat in the hotel- prices seemed expensive. Pint beer £3.80 and bottle rose £22!

Overall we would stay again as we did pay a well suited price and its located excellently.

When we booked, the reservations office answered all our questions by email promptly and accurately. The location in the center of the old city is close to many attractions, restaurants etc. The checkin was done very efficiently in less than 2 minutes. The car parking in the adjacent building, enabled us to park in the 3rd floor 20m from our room in the same floor. The river grill restaurant serves gourme grill and is one of the best grill restaurants we visited. The room was spaceous with modern furniture and decor. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Stayed at this hotel in August 2012 and it was excellent. Had a superior room (not the cheapest in Bristol) and it was clean and fresh. Weather was very warm so the air con was brilliant. Bed was very comfortable although there was some noise from music outside. Late check out (3pm) was also very useful. Hotel is right on the quayside and there are many bars and eating places nearby. Only improvements could have been a bigger bathroom (ours was very small) and a fridge would have been perfect!!!

Room Tip: pay a bit extra for superior rooms
