Stayed for a night on business. Exterior looks a bit Gerry Anderson, which is alarming, but the rooms are very new. Excellent service, decent breakfast, and no complaints save the bar is very small, with only the seating/staff to accommodate small groups.

My husband and I stayed here for a short business trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the convenience of parking in the car park next door was great. The room and general decor were lovely and modern and the bed was the most comfortable hoteI bed I have slept in which was just as well since I wasn't feeling too well. The restaurant staff were also very thoughtful and when I said I wasn't eating because I didn't feel well, they offered to see if the chef could provide an alternative soup to what was on the menu, which they did. My only slightly negative comment was that the restaurant staff did seem a but disorganised - with one person taking the order, another serving the meal and yet another taking the dessert order - with the not surprising effect that there was a bit of confusion as to the state of the order. That slight niggle apart I would definitely recommend the hotel and would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: The staff recommended a room on the top floor as this would be quieter, which it was but I understan...

I stayed here for the weekend with my partner. First good thing is that you can park free at the NCP adjoining the hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff on reception. We had a room on the top floor with a view over the harbour. Nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable with hairdryer and very smart coffee machine. The bar at the hotel is very comfortable and has piano music in the evening. The restaurant staff are friendly and attentive and the breakfast(included in the price for the weekend) is very good. The hotel is very close to the redeveloped harbour area with its myriad of bars and SS Great Britain but also close to the cathedral and old part of the city. One thing that is odd is the lack of restaurants in the area so we ate in the hotel restaurant on the second night and had a really excellent meal. The food and wine were both delicious and the service was also excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at that so recommend the hotel restaurant to eat in the evening as you will struggle to find somewhere to eat in the immediate environs of Prince Street and the Harbour, no problem to find somewhere to drink though. We thought the weekend package we booked was extremely good value and the hotel surpassed our expectations in all respects. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the outside overlooking the harbour on floor 6 (top floor) If possible. Great view...

This hotel is in a prime location, harbourside in Bristol - in fact they may well have the best spot in town. We stayed for a couple of nights at the end of May on a room only basis, the website we booked through had breakfast at £12.50 although when we checked in we were told it could be added for £8.00. In the room there was a room service breakfast menu with continental breakfast for £12.50 and full english £16.00, or £5.00 tray charge for breakfast inclusive rates.
We had a large, smart, well equipped room including an armchair with footstool, desk, bedside tables and a side table but the bathroom was a bit cramped, there could have been a better balance on overall floor space I think. Everything worked, was well maintained and clean. However, the room was chilly and we had no in-room control over the temperature which meant we had to ask for supplementary heating, but this was provided quickly and was effective.
Our room was on the street side rather not the riverside, the windows have dual glazing to help keep the noise out and the do to a point, but not entirely - it's a busy street, the hotel main entrance is there, deliveries are made on that side so there can be a lot of traffic noise. That is to be expected in a city, however, noise from other guest rooms was a greater problem and I was disturbed on both nights, not through loud guests partying but TV, conversation & bathroom noises. My companion who can sleep through anything had not been disturbed by the general noise from adjoining rooms but had been surprised to hear our neighbour's shower running. I mentioned on check-out that they needed to do something about the sound-proofing and was offered a full apoplogy, thanked for bringing it to their attention and given a nominal discount per night, which was offered not requested. I was surprised that noise was an issue as clearly a lot of thought has gone into making guest rooms as inviting as possible.
We did not eat in the hotel or use any of the other facilities on offer, our dealings with reception staff were all fine, polite & professional.

Room was very nice, equipment particularly nice - a full size iron and ironing board are NOT common, even in really posh hotels.

Room was large, bed was large, TV was high spec (Toshiba); contrary to the parking details on the website, parking (in the adjacent-and-linked-NCP) was totally free, important in Bristol where parking is a bit of an issue.

Sound insulation between the rooms may be an issue - on the last night, I could have made a transcript of one side of a 5 minute telephone call.

I don't know about noise from the restaurants and bars opposite - it was no issue at all for me, but I was there sun-thu. Friday and Saturday night might be more challenging.

Loved the Bristol Hotel. Location perfect, price reasonable, staff helpful and friendly, rooms spacious and bed comfortable. Amazingly, there was a Krups coffee machine in the room - a bit of a step up from the mini kettle! Highly recommended for a night out in Bristol's Harbour area.

Just returned from a 2 night break in Bristol staying at The Bristol Hotel. We had a room on the 6th floor overlooking the Harbour and it was most pleasant. Hubby was really impressed with the coffee machine and I loved the Temple Spa products. The room was clean but we had a blocked sink for the whole of our stay even though we did report it to housekeeping. We've never been to Bristol before and found the location of the hotel perfect. The harbour houses many restaurants and has a great vibe to it. It was a little noisy at night but the bed was so comfy and we slept really well. You will not be short of somewhere to eat but would not recommend Tikka Flame. However we would highly recommend Graze which is a short walk just up from the hotel. The breakfast produce was of a high quality and the staff very attentive but not in your face. All in all we loved Bristol and our day trip to Bath so much so that we intend to return and we would definitely stay at The Bristol against and would recommend.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the sixth floor over looking the harbour.

Dear Miffy21,

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel,

We are delighted you enjoyed our temple spa products, and I would certainly agree with you on recommending Graze for anyone looking for a decent restaurant near the harbour side,

We hope to welcome you back some day and hopefully you will give our River Grille restaurant a chance,

Sincerely,
