I had a hunt for a bargain before booking for my birthday weekend. The Bristol hotel didnt have the lowest headline rate but was a good deal as it included breakfast and parking.

Its a strange 60s building with the car park given equal billing to the bit where people sleep. Don't be dismayed - inside it's swish and modern.

We got upgraded one notch and were pleased with the room and a good view. Staff were efficient and charming.

I'd give 4.5 stars if I could. I can't quite give 5 stars as breakfast was slightly chaotic (the hotel was busy). Coffee was served by someone walking round with a jug but she never came anywhere near us. I had to walk over and ask in the end.

Room Tip: Waterfront rooms are great for the view but there is some late noise from the bars over the bridge.

Dear Mandog,

Thank you for your great review, we accept the 4.5 rating!!

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay, the building is a little strange for sure but we are working with a 1960's build, hotels were done very differently back then, but as you mentioned the inside is very different.

If booking again be sure to check out our website where our best available rates will always be found,

Sincerely,

I stayed in this hotel last March during the Cheltenham festival. I intended to write a review then but never got around to it. Being unorganised I had left the organising of my trip to the last minute and could not find a decent hotel in Cheltenham. This turned out to be a blessing as I booked into the Bristol Hotel and I have just booked in again for the 2014 festival. As there is an excellent train service from Bristol to Cheltenham the logistics are simple and best of all, after spending the day battling the crowds in Cheltenham it's refreshing to be able to return to a luxury hotel which are providing you with the attention you expect from a 4 start hotel.

Dear SNQuestions,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review,

we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and had a successful Cheltenham festival.

People are not always aware that Cheltenham is only 20 minutes from Bristol via train and a great base to operate from when attending the races.

We hope to welcome you back next year in March

A wonderful hotel, set at the heart of Bristol. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff; I've never felt such a lovely atmosphere in a large hotel. The personal touch was applied to everything, our superior room overlooking the river was clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully cooked; there was plenty to choose from. Our package included a complimentary cocktail which started the weekend of perfectly. I can't wait to return again and these prices, I don't need to wait for a special occasion. A real gem of a hotel..

Room Tip: We could here music from the buildings over the river but the windows are well insulated for sound...

Nice enough hotel. Stayed one night in a superior room. Which was a bit more basic than I'd have expected. Room was well enough appointed, clean but the Bristol seem to have fallen into current vogue of adding a Nesspresso machine & calling a room deluxe or similar. Euro plugs predominated oddly. The room had a great view over harbour basin & was well soundproofed. But was on 6th floor to be fair. The gym, as with so many hotels contained nice new high quality equipment, just not very much of it. I didn't eat here though the bar was small, well stocked & a nice place to sit. Parking, free which is excellent. Beware if you drive a large car. Entry/exit to parking v constricted. The staff were all friendly & attentive.

Dear DrRoosterJim,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review,

We appreciate your comments, just for clarity we differentiate between Superior (our entry level rooms) and Deluxe Rooms by typically room size, a Deluxe room will also have bathrobes, water, media hub, and be fully air-conditioned.

We hope to welcome you back to the hotel when visiting Bristol again,

Excellent hotel, very well located. Very helpful staff. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice apart from the cheese and cold meats section which appeared to be left over from the day before.
