“Wedding Anniversary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2014

Having just read some negative reviews I felt I must add our positive review albeit a few weeks late. My husband and I stayed for one night on our 30th Wedding Anniversary earlier this month. We could not fault the Hotel or its staff in any way and we have stayed in many hotels. The room was clean and plenty big enough, the staff were all extremely helpful and the food was very nice too. As we had a Theatre booking we opted for the Pre-Theatre Meal which was delicious and very good value. We were given 2 complimentary cocktails from Lauren which was a lovely gesture. As we had such a pleasant stay we have just booked for the New Years Eve Package :)

The hotel is fantastically situated, the rooms are comfortable and clean, although the bathrooms are somewhat small. Bar and restaurant good and staff attentive and friendly. They just need more staff at the reception desk at known busy times - i.e. at 1030 when they can anticipate people will be leaving, we had only 1 person serving so it was very slow to check out.

My husband and I and two friends spent three nights over last weekend at The Bristol Hotel. The service was impeccable, the hotel clean, the staff helpful and polite and the breakfast excellent. The location on the quayside and yet within easy walking distance of the centre is perfect. If we stayed in Bristol again we would choose this hotel, BUT would not pay the supplement for a de-lux room. Our friends were in a standard room and it was , in our opinion,. a more pleasantly appointed room than ours. It was large, had better wardrobe space and had a bigger bathroom than ours. Our bathroom was too small to be comfortable - you had to be a contortionist to close the door and there was scarcely room to turn around. Don't be seduced by the promise of a quayside view, as the trees lining the waterfront block out all but the merest glimpse of the water. Also be aware that there is VERY loud music, at the weekends, from across the water, until 2 am and the secondary glazing does not block it out sufficiently to allow sleep. Next time we will choose a standard room on the side of the hotel away from the quayside.

Room Tip: Not quayside at weekend......noise from bars across the water .

Dear MarieF,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it is pleasing to see you had a good stay with us.

We have a handful of superior rooms which are slightly larger than some f our Deluxe rooms(majority are not), however we don’t differentiate by size, the added extra's of the Deluxe rooms are Air conditioning, water, bathrobes, Nespresso machine, quayside rooms to name a few variances.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon,

Sincerely

Great location, lovely staff and free parking a real bonus! Stunning breakfast!
Wonderful relaxing atmosphere all the way through our stay and a lovely touch to be given a free bottle of water each for our journey home.

We stayed here during a trip to the UK for a family event. Staff was very friendly but they are working in a tired old hotel that has seem better days. This hotel has stunning pictures on their website that does not reflect the reality we repair or cleanliness of their facility. Beds was worn out and bed spreads/pillows were so stained we asked for them to be removed from the room. Hotel is slightly dirty in detail and summary. This is not a 4 star hotel.

Dear Dallas214too,

Thank you for the time to leave us a review.

It is disappointing to read you felt the hotel was worn out and not four star,

If you were willing to drop me a note with your number (my email address is below) I would be genuinely interested to catch up with you and find out the room you stayed in etc to see where we can focus our attentions.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Can't fault the staff, location or parking. However, the dinner in the restaurant was a disappointment, especially after such excellent food on a previous visit. A main course of two herrings with two small potatoes for £13.95 is a rip off. All the server could suggest was to 'Add some sides.' The menu was lacking in balance with too much fat and not enough carbohydrate or vegetables. If you wanted veg, it was extra. Not good value, even for TdH. Having said that, the breakfasts were superb. Freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Possibly a different chef?
My advice, go for B&B and dine elsewhere!
