enjoyed Bristol, enjoyed hotel. For most part friendly (reception staff?).Bed in room comfortable but perhaps past its best as role together in mattress. People in City very friendly. City architecture outstanding and hotel is in keeping with this. Overall good. If you have a bad back check out Back in Action store across from hotel entrance - excellent

Room Tip: rooms good but some do not have any view

The delightful victorian hotel is situated between the busy centre of Bristol and Clifton making it a a great base for visiting the shops or your students at the university. Access is easy and the car park, albeit I didn't use it, was clearly signed. Check out was quick and efficient and the family room i had booked was excellent. It was located on the lower floor which did make it a little dark and the view out he window was limited but for a one night stay was not an issue. The ambience of the hotel was very good with many original period features. We had a quick drink in the Club bar, which is not one of the cheapest, but was very pleasant. Breakfast was of a standard you expect from a hotel of this ranking and although the hotel was very busy we were seated without delay. A visit to the leisure suite is a must - there is a very good swimming pool and jaccuzzi set in a "roman" style setting. This is a hotel that you will be pleased to stay in.

Room Tip: If possible avoid the lower ground rooms

Character hotel in the heart of Bristol. Staff excellent and the rooms good, comfortable and clean. If you can get a double for less than £100 per night inc breakfast then you are probably getting a good deal. Food good but bar prices slightly over the top. Hotel has parking at £12.50 - 24 hours under the hotel which is an advantage. check-in swift and express checkout works well. Been staying in this hotel for many years from the days when it was a Thistle and the quality remains good. Infact probably the best in central Bristol and that includes the overpriced Du-Vin.

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott for our Wedding Anniversary, we arrived earlier than intended but the staff were very friendly and accomodating. We were offered an upgrade to the room we had booked for a very reasonable price. When we opened our room door we were greeted with a card and a bottle of red wine, that we felt was a lovely touch. The room was spacious, very clean and the bed was also very comfortable. We dined out of the hotel that evening but returned early to relax in the lounge. There was a lovely freindly atmostphere and promp service. Breakfast was fantastic too. I would definately recommend this hotel.

Stayed here in spring with the family for a weekend away in Bristol. We booked a 1-bedroom suite which was very lovely. The suite was very big, it has a small reception. The bedroom was lovely with a high wooden four poster super-king bed, medium flatscreen tv, a working desk+chair and a small coffee table with 2 chairs. Our small boys slept on the extra bed in the lounge.

The lounge has another medium flatscreen tv with DVD player, 3 seaters sofa, a single sofa with footrest, a dining table with 2 chairs and a little terrace. The bathroom was big: a jacuzzi bath with on the wall small tv and a separate power shower cubicle. The dressing room was also separate. It was a nice classic English style, and felt very comfortable like in your own home.

The service was thoroughly friendly, polite and helpful. The pool was small but nice too. Location is great. Almost next to the cathedral and city center by the canal. Breakfast was also quite nice and plenty of choice. Although the breakfast restaurant was a bit dated.

Will definitely stay here again if coming back to Bristol and can thoroughly recommend it.

When you want to experience the best of English hospitality then there is no better place than the Royal. We were there for the Burns Night charity dinner and could not fault the experience. Having an underground car park helped to make the check in swift and efficient, Our room, a suite with walk in shower and jacuzzi oozed class. The dinner and dance was perhaps the best banquet meal that I have ever tasted - the baby Haggis was moist and succulent with the right amount of peppery heat. The auction conducted by the general manage was hilarious and raised more money than could have been expected. Breakfast was buffet style ( a la carte available too) and catered for every taste. There was nothing to fault and this was our 4th stay. Whenever we are in Bristol the Marriott is the only place to stay.

We often stay in Bristol and this hotel is our favourite, the staff are without exception fantastic, the location is great and the building itself superb.
The breakfast is a splendid buffet style feast with fresh fruit, cheeses and smoked meat as well as the traditional English.
Facilities are good, the pool is in the basement but a good effort has been made to make it a pleasant place to be in.
