Lovely old fashioned style hotel. Bedrooms very comfortable. Breakfast was great as were the bar snacks served in the drawing room. We stayed on the third floor in an executive bedroom and this was just great. Easy to control air conditioning/heating which responded well and did just as it should. Did not use the gym, but the swimming pool was lovely.Would recommend for couples and business.

Stayed here as a family recently. Very fortunate to be upgraded to the suite on 4th floor which if you can get it is fabulous - octagonally shaped room with great views. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom enormous !! The staff here really make the place - they are very helpful and go out of their way to sort stuff out for you from warm milk to the room to booking up a restaurant. Leisure facilities nice - slightly chintzy roman style pool and it's a little chilly for a leisure pool but clean and fantastic to have for a city centre location. Breakfast is impressive with heaps of cooked and cold food and fresh fruit on offer. We also had lunch here in the lounge area which was good value and nicely served. The hotel itself is a nice combination of old and new - great big reception rooms with clean and contemporary finishings. The one compromise is the noise factor - some have mentioned within the hotel though this was not an issue for us - it was the fact that it's city centre and very near bars and clubs and the late night munchies trail and therefore crammed with the colourful inebriates of Bristol as they sing and shout their way home. Only for this reason did I mark down the sleep quality. It does occasionally wake you up - but not to the point of keeping you awake all night ! The flip of that is of course that you are in a lovely hotel right in the heart of Bristol - shopping, eating, drinking, theatre, @ Bristol museum etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room - quiet from the large function room and if possible on a quieter side of the b...

Great room, with lots of original features but full of all mod cons. Central heating was very efficient and the staff could not do enough to make our two nights stay a delight. We would come and stay again without hesitation.

Stayed here for one night, we'd came to see a show at the Hippodrome. The service was fantastic from the moment we booked in until we left. Samples of soft drinks and welch cakes , as it was St David's day, while we were booking in. The rooms were spacious, clean and warm. Afternoon cream tea after the show and still excellent service from the waitress ( wish we had her name). Out for an evening meal and drinks ( another story completely). Back for drinks at the bar, same waitress and still smiling, as the cocktail we wanted was not one the menu she got the ingredients and had it made for us. Breakfast, well you won't go hungry and yet again brilliant service..... Returning ... Oh yes

Our daughter's wedding was in Clifton and the Marriott Royal was the best and nearest hotel for us to stay. The sparkling wine was a nice touch to everyone when they arrive, Our standard room was large, clean and had everything we needed. Our daughter was in an even larger room with a separate sitting room, very useful for her on her wedding day and her bathroom had a separate shower and a spa bath. Great!
The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the air con worked very good.
We met up with friends for a meal in the evening. As it was Valentine's night there was a special dinner but we were happy to eat in the Club room/bar. The service was a bit slow but the hotel was full and very busy.
After returning from our daughters wedding the following night we carried on in the bar into the early hours but after a while the bar was closed and the only way to get a drink was to get it in our rooms.
The underneath car park was very useful and safe - yes its an added exspence but it is in the centre of Bristol.
Breakfasts both days were excellent and the service very good.
Overall I would recommend the Marriott Royal with its service, rooms and location.

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd floor and our rooms were quiet. Our standard room was very good and our daughters...
