“Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

Its fine. First a word of warning. There are two Marriott hotels now in Bristol. Make sure you book the correct one ! My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights for a fortieth University reunion. Function room quite grand and food and service good. Staff have been pleasant and helpful. The location is convenient. The elected Bristol Mayor has organised the first Sunday of the summer months to have 'make Sunday special ' days. This May the 'special' was erecting a water slide down Park St , It was on regional news and I think National News. Since the Hotel is at the bottom of Park St , it was just up the road for us. Lots to do nearby. We took an open topped bus and I would recommend this , the stop is near ,just by the Docks. Breakfast as you would expect , not a problem, we ate in the restaurant on the second day and the food was fine. Generally a pleasant relaxing weekend and the Marriott Royal was the right place to be. I would be happy to stay again.

Thank you for your great comments, we were pleased to learn of your enjoyable 2 night stay with us over the bank holiday, and indeed it was a very busy weekend in the City, particularly with the Park Street waterslide outside. I apologise for any unnecessary inconvience caused by establishing the right Marriott for your stay, as you state there are two in Bristol.

Stayed two nights for a conference, the room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Service was first class and all meals were of a good quality. Secure car parking available at just £7.50 per 24 hrs. The hotel is close to the docks and a perfect location for exploring the city.

Great hotel from start to finish. Swift and efficient, excellent front of house check in and out, just what you need after a long trip. The spa looked marvellous as well but unfortunately did not have the time to indulge

Room Tip: Loads of car parking space

We stayed over the Easter Holiday for three nights on a deal with dinner the first night and breakfast each morning. On arrival we were allocated a room on the fourth floor, which was tiny and had hardly any storage so we asked to move and were given a room overlooking the Cathedral, which was lovely and very quiet. Dinner is the newly styled restaurant was lovely, although the £25 allowance barely buys you two courses. Breakfast was good in fact better than we'd experienced previously however it was really busy on Easter Sunday morning, to the point that when we got up to get food, they started to clear out table!! They have stopped using the fridges in the rooms which is a shame, and in our room it was still in place and mistakenly I opened it thinking it was working and it stunk the room out!

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms overlooking harbourside, they can be really noisy!

Stayed for 3 nights at the start of April 2014 with my family in a Four Poster Suite. The room was very nice and spacious as I'd expect at this level of accommodation. Our experience of breakfast and lunch was resoundingly positive both in terms of service and quality/taste; bearing in mind the number of people eating in the hotel throughout our stay, this was impressive. The swimming pool was clean and quiet when we visited, although the water was a little cold for our smallest child. The only slight issue was the traffic noise which I found disruptive to sleep. I would definitely stay again but I would request a room on the other side of the hotel i.e.not facing the main road and aquarium.

My whole family, on my recommendation stayed here this weekend for my sisters wedding and as usual it did not fail to impress. Staff were though full and friendly, food was lovely presentation and good quality. Room was quiet and all my family commented on what a good nights sleep they had had on those large comfy beds. I really like this hotel, it's great location forBristol and the breakfast sets you up for the days shopping.

We stayed as a 3 night break before we flew from Bristol, visually a lovely looking hotel with plenty of character next to the cathedral grounds.
Smooth check in.
Family room offering double bed and separate camp bed, comfortable bed and very clean room.
In room coffee and tea along with water with lemon on tap in the reception area!
Plenty of take away coffee cups in the room and breakfast area for those wanting a take away coffee, a nice touch in my opinion.
This hotel is ideally situated for walking In to the city and also Clifton area of the city also you can see the aquarium and science museum from the hotel

Very helpful staff throughout

All in all a great all rounder for families, couples and corporate stays

Will be back again
