My husband and i have recently been married at Bristol Marriott. We had a fantastic time and the staff couldn't do enough for our special day. We had the honeymoon suite which was like a whole flat with a hugh four post king size bed. I stayed at the hotel the night before my wedding with my one of my bridesmaids and the hotel made it a very memorable time.
On the day of the wedding we had a few hiccups which were nothing to do with the hotel and yet they done all they could to help.
I just wanted to say that if you are concidering this hotel for a wedding it is beautiful

Traditional grand hotel style, beautifully renovated. Be aware it is in the centre of the town, so there is a lot of heavy drinking in the area on the weekend.
If you are from abroad it is worthwhile to ‘visit’ this attraction once on your holiday (can also be seen in other British cities).
If you are sensitive to noise you might ask for an inside room.

stayed there with a friend for 2 day chill out weekend, Start with negatives, which are only two, car park is ajacent to hotel and easy access to hotel, however whem we reached reception informed £11 a night and that includes discount, unfortunately there are no side streats or anywhere nearby and safe to park, so your stuck, Secondly asked for credit card to hold for security, for some reson my mind went blank and couldnt remember number, but was paying cash anyway upon checkout. Didnt have any money on me, so I was forced to find a cashpoint up the road, albeit was 5 mins away and get cash before i was given key to room. Also was shocked for a hotel of this calibre there was no cashpoint facility, but he ho. We were re-checked in by another checkin lady who was more informative and helpful, advised us that there was two weddings going on and our room was situated near the reception area and asked if we wanted to move and also there was no twin rooms and had to share a kingside bed, but could change the next morming. Room was very clean, plenty of pillows, toiletries and towels, For £75 a night, we expected at least some for of digital tv, but they only had five channels, seen more at premier inn lol. However the highlight was leisure activities, warmly greeted by the gym reception on two occasions and access to a towel and lockers. Changng rooms small, but clean and had necessary accessories, ie hair dryer, spinner for wet clothes, key to lockers. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were to die for, totally bliss, very clean and great tempretures, the swimming pool was well used and also very clean. Did not eat in, breakfast was £16, so can imagine what dinner was, across the road is a sports cafe, before 5pm 2xmeals for £8, choices aren't great, but there are other things to choose from, up the hill towards the right though selection of restaurants, thai, nandos, italian, pubs, Shopping is around 15 walk to shopping centres and they have selection of big name brands. Also close convenient stores across the road - Spa in case you want to get any nibbles or bottles of water - there is a bottle of water in room upon arrival, but at a cost of £3.50 Overall great hotel, would defo recommend and go back again, ps lovely smell when you walk into hotel

I have stayed at the bristol royal marriott several times this year and have recently returned from a 2 night stay with my mum, a shopping trip. The hotel, in my opinion has been consistent in all areas.
It is easy to find, driving from the south west, you can drive directly to it, there is no need to get caught up in the bristol one way system - big advantage for me. The car park is on site which is very convenient, it is quite expensive, i think its about £12 per day but you are right in the heart of the city and the car is safe.
The hotel itself has a grand feel, all areas are well maintained , attractive and comfortable.
The staff at reception and concierge staff are welcoming, friendly, efficient and knowledgable of the area.
The bedroom is comfortable, incl. beds and very clean.
The bar and dining room staff are also welcoming and efficient, the standard of the food in the hotel restaurant is excellent and the variety at breakfast is very good.
I have not used the gym or pool because i am always too busy shopping or out eating and that is very tiring and strenuous! but i have looked at the areas and they look very good.
The location is excellent, its easy to walk to lots of shopping, eating, nightlife areas including the new Cabot Circus, that takes about 10-15 mins easy walk.
One slight negative, it is noisy at weekends, especially if you are in a back room. You could ask for a quieter room. As I said previously the hotel is right in the centre, you cant have it all ways. It wouldnt put me off, it will continue to be my first choice for a stay in Bristol.

We went to Bristol for the first May Bank Holiday in 2009 as we had friends staying there for 2 months (they were there on work).

We first arrived and the building on the outside is really well kept and right next door to the beautiful Bristol Cathedral. Entering the hotel lobby was nice as well. A man was greeting people with sherry or port (or something along those lines) but we didn't have one as we were pooped from the train travel from London.

Upon check-in, the receptionist was VERY helpful. She asked if we had been to Bristol before (which we had not) and she gave us a map of the city and we asked her to point out areas with good bars (not chavvy ones). She immediately suggested areas, marked some good bar areas and told us sites we might want to check out.

NOW here's the best part. Still being smokers in the UK, this Marriott has a section of rooms just for us! Our room was clean and even though we're smokers, it did not smell of smoke. The bed was very comfortable and our window overlooked the river/canal or whatever you call it. The room was quiet at night and the bathroom had a great bath/shower (great water pressure).

One night, after being with our friends (who have two kids), we got back to the hotel and needed a drink (after passing some of the bars on Park Street packed with chavs we decided we weren't in the mood to deal with them) we were surprised to see the hotel bar still serving. As it was quite late, we were able to take the drinks back up to our room as well.

We would definitely stay here again. BUT next time we will take our swim trunks as I didn't realise they had an indoor pool!!!!

It's really easy to get to the Clifton area from here (where we mostly hung out). If you're in good shape, you can walk it in 15 minutes. If you're not or have disabilities, the bus stop is just a two minute walk from the hotel and you'll be in the Clifton area in 5 minutes.

Situated directly next to the beautiful cathedral on College Green, the hotel could harldly be better located for central Bristol. You can walk to all the city centre and waterside restaurants, bars and museums.

The hotel breakfast is a well-stocked buffet and stays open to a very civilised 12pm at weekends. There is a good gym plus pool in the basement.

My only slight criticism is that the hotel is beginning to show signs of wear (e.g. worn carpets and slightly shabby fixtures in the bedroom), and would maybe benefit from redecoration.

Booked through 3rd party web-site, we got a great family deal with breakfast included, which was a buffet style and caters for every need and taste (and more). The staff are friendly & helpfull, hotel very clean, leisure facilites were very good, pool excellent for teens. Parking is a sham though - spaces are really tight and they charge you £11. gbp.
Apart from parking issue we would definitely book and again if need to stay in the area. Will also definitely look at the Marriott chain from now on.
