Luxury 3 star hotel. Website completely misleading. Room was nothing like what the website showed. Paid premium for a dirty, shabby (torn chairs) room. Pull out bed from wardrobe. So called bridge view was over messy restaurant roof top. Items broken in bathroom. Breakfast: not at all prepared for full seating with rude staff. Unfortunately I have nothing good to report. Would never go back nor recommend. Wrote an email to the Hotel Manager who never bothered responding. Email was polite feedback on the stay.

I've always wanted to stay at the Avon Gorge as I lived in the city for 4 years and never visited. Returning after 20 years it was a joy to stay under the Clifton Suspension Bridge. We had a wonderful family room sharing with out 16 & 17 year olds. And we enjoyed a perfect view of the bridge all for 100 pounds..a deal I'd say. Breakfast was very mediocre but staying in Clifton Village meant you had a tremendous choice of top class restaurants and pubs. I'd recommend it especially for tourists.

We paid £267 for 2 nights in what was described as a Premium Suite. We chose it for the guaranteed views of the Gorge and Bridge.and some luxury. The view was of airconditioning units on the roof of the beakfast room.. If we opened the window we got the smells from the extractor fan from the kitchens - the irony was that the A/C did not work in the room which only had a ceiling fan to aleviate the stiflkng heat.
The Premium Suite may have been premium luxury in 1980 but no longer - the jacuzzi had ben downgraded to a 'soaking bath (ie it did not work) and the decorations were as faded and worn as the peellng 'gold' taps.
We complained. No other suites were available but we were told by the manager on duty that he had had complaints in the past about the room but his requests to change the descrption of the room had not been heeded by his superiors.
This is a tired old hotel saved only by its location - if you can get a view. So avoid room 124 unless at a huge discunt

Highly reccomended if you are looking for a full service Hotel in the Bristol/Clifton area. The location and views are really great, the terrace is as it looks on thier web site.. Good size room with good bed and linen. The staff are very attentive and helpfull. Very good value if you get one of thier promotions and the location in Clifton makes for a nice place to walk from. Only shame is that the extractor from the kitchen blows cooking fat smells over the bar terrace. Not a problem for the restaurant though

We stayed here as part of a wedding party in mid July. The room was tiny, bathroom very dated and dingey, and the mattress was sofy and saggy. We weren't off to a good start!

For the amount we paid (which was a reduced rate negotiated by the bride and groom), I would have expected a lot more. Clifton is beautiful, and this hotel needs some serious TLC to restore it to what it might have been in former years.

Breakfast was a rushed affair, with hot items on a buffet that had seen better days. The staff are average, but it wouldn't hurt to slow down, smile, and make sure the table's were laid properly (especially after having to wait a while for one!).

Overall, this place isn't that bad, but for the money, I suggest you could find much better in Bristol.

I have just returned after staying at this hotel, room was comfortable and the breakfast was marvellous, scambled eggs to die for. It is a wonderful base from which to visit a beautiful city and surrounding area.
The only minus would be the lack of parking, however one can always find a space, if you drive round at little.
The terrace is stunning and what a back drop to have the bridge in view. Thank you
for a lovely stay
