This hotel looked old, very dated but clean. Very nice, modern decor executive lounge with great Marshfield bakery snacks. The lounge hors d'oeuvres was not very good. Only served meatballs and refried beans on ciaba which looked like toasted hot dog buns. The snack was the same as you can get at the local ASDA grocery store. The wait staff had soiled black aprons.

The breakfast buffet at the restaurant was mediocre. The beans tasted like the canned beans and made to order plain omelet was white and loaded with pepper. Too many waiters standing around with only five people dining at two tables. The potatoes dried out and only the fruits and pastries was the best part of the breakfast.

Room service took a long time to answer their phone. Called three times plus called the restaurant. The room service food was terrible.

The room it itself was somewhat clean ( when a chair was moved there was long strands of hair on the floor) and typical Marriott room. The bathroom toilet didn't flush well on first try so you have to hold the handle down for few seconds. Housekeeping did quick cleaning of room.

There is a park across the street and couple of attractions of churches that were bombed during WWII and never restored. Shopping center Cabot Circus within walking distance nearby. Parking garage is next door.

This was our third visit to this hotel, we booked Dinner B & B but on arrival found that the restaurant was closed so evening dinner had to be taken in the bar. Not quite the 4 star dinning we were expecting. The hotel was busy and I'm sure many were wondering why this was done. It spoilt our Easter and will make us think twice about going again.

Room Tip: No point asking for a view, th ewindow screening stops you looking out clearly

Went to this hotel over Easter break. Great Location near all shops and places to eat in walking distance (La Grotto in Union Street is a must).
Hotel was great had fab room overlooking city centre and was on quiet side of road breakfast was great, nice swimming pool and gym was good. The only minor issue was the bathrooms are quiet small especially for the size room we had.
Staff were fantastic and really helpful and friendly they could not do enough for us. Would recommend this hotel if you want to be in right in the heart of Bristol where everything is in walking distance.
We did an open top bus tour of Bristol city which has a guide talking in English, which was excellent and very interesting would recommend doing it, it is only an hour and a half and you get to see the main sights of Bristol and the suburb of Clifton. We also went to Bath for a day (not far), which is an absolute must.
Just a note, if you are driving, you will have to pay to park your car at the NCP car park at £12.50 per 24 hours which is a reduced rate. The car park is right by the side of the Hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room high up as I think one side of the Hotel is on a busier road than the other try...

Just stayed two nights at the Bristol City Centre hotel. Room was much the same as other Marriot hotels but the bathroom was very small - just enough space to put the bath mat down.
We were at the back of the hotel on the 9th floor. We could hear the traffic but perhaps not as much as on a lower floor?
The breakfast was very good and the food in the restraunt ok but lacked a bit of imagination.
We did not use/look at the gym but did use the small pool, jacuzzi and steam room which were ok.
We were surprised at how easy the hotel was to find (using a sat nav) and the car park is almost joined to the hotel. There is a cost of £12.50 per night for residents.
The shops are very close by and the river not too far away.
We really enjoyed walking around Bristol even though it was very cold. We are looking forward to visiting again in the summer and will stay at this Marriot.

I have stayed in New York and London, but Bristol has to top the league for emergency sirens day & night...what is happening in Bristol that requires so many 'blue & twos'? Whilst this is not the Marriott's fault, it did highlight that in the room I was staying in for 3 nights (that faced the main road) the sound proofing wasn't that good - and I was on the 10th floor. I suspect that the other side of the hotel would be quieter, if you get the option. Otherwise, a good stay with all the usual expectations of a stay at Marriott. Hotel is next-door to the shopping centre, which has plenty of food options as well as lotsof good shopping outlets. A short walk gets you to the floating harbour and Bristol is an easy city to get around on foot, albeit when I stayed there was a bitingly cold wind which made the experience testing at best.

Room Tip: Rooms on the entrance side will be quieter

Marriott usually provides a very consistent experience which is nice when you are traveling. The Bristol Marriott is close to the shopping center, lots of nearby restaurants and markets for those staying for an extended period of time. I always enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the mornings, and though I never used it, they have a pool in the fitness center.

Close to the shopping centre and with good rooms reasonably priced, this is the advantage Marriott has on many competitors in Bristol. Decent breakfast and friendly staff complete the picture. I would go back, if need be.
