“Engaging staff”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We stayed for one night recently. The immediate thing we noticed was that despite a crowd of people clustered around the check-in desk, the ample number of staff spotted us at the back with our luggage and beckoned us forward - this really makes a difference, there is nothing worse than having to wait, following a long journey, for a poorly staffed desk to process a queue of checking-in guests.
The room was nice, clean and contained a good number of those items one usually has to call the front desk for - including an iron & ironing board. The king-size bed was very comfortable, due to the plump topper. Disappointing was the small bathroom (difficult to get out of the shower if the door is open and your partner is brushing their teeth at the basin), the small number of toiletries (it might be nice for the hotel to anticipate that guests will want to shower on arrival after travelling and before an evening out, as well as the following morning - certainly not enough for this) and the pay-per-day wifi access in the room (Really? this is so 20th century...).
We ordered the in-room breakfast which arrived bang on time (within a15-minute booked slot), was reasonably hot on arrival with good coffee, crisp toast and fresh muffin. No tomato or brown sauces included automatically which is a minor point.
Overall, the visit was pleasant, mostly down to the attitude of the (young) staff. Probably wouldn't stay again given the wide choice in Bristol, but only because we'd rather try somewhere new.

We stayed only one night but enjoyed it nevertheless :-) The hotel is well located - it´s a 10-minute walk to the harbour, 3 bus stops from Bristol Temple Meads (we travelled by train), 5-minute walk to huge shopping centre.
The breakfast was just huge and delicious!!! Only the 6-pound-a-day wifi access to the Internet was a surpise for me :-(
Sleep rated only "very good" as I prefer hard mattress...

We enjoyed a lovely night at this hotel, whilst attending a work ball. The hotel room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Instead of biscuits with the tea/coffee we had delicious locally made shortbread.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were offered freshly made popcorn on arrival!

The food at the dinner was very good. Slightly disappointed at having no mushrooms at breakfast though.

Overall a great stay and would recommend.

No email confirmation after a phone booking, so no record of my special room rate and I have to pay £125 instead of £75. WiFi in the room? An extra £15. Parking? An extra £14.50. Feeble shower in the bath. Paper coffee cups. I feel ripped off from start to finish, and the whole experience is the way hotels used to be. Thankfully, there are plenty around that have realised this and are offering much better deals than these corporate chain dinosaurs.

Close to the city centre, near to major shopping complex. Parking is at the NCP car park next door, but there is height restriction of 1.8m, so watch out if you have a 4x4 ! Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Limited but adequate menu for evening dinner. Bar snacks and room service available until late. I was there to review the conference facilities which were impressive. A large conference hall, smaller syndicate rooms would accommodate most business conference requirements. Accommodation is over 10 floors. The rooms are of the usual Marriott standard, but there are no suites to offer guests who might require something more special. Some of the rooms have balconies but the view over the city is not particularly spectacular. All in all, and adequate conference venue. Excellent buffet breakfast!

Room Tip: Choose an executive room, standard rooms are a little small.

Stayed here midweek on business and saw all sides of this hotel.
We were part of an exhibition/conference with a network dinner the night before.
Arrived on the Tuesday to set up an exhibition and all staff from the porters , reception and back room staff were all top notch in their approach, help and service.
Booked in to my room and again all the staff were excellent.
That evening we had a great meal, the best lamb shank I have ever had.
The rest of the evening was spent at the bar, the young man behind the bar , I believe was called Kourtney, was very attentive and friendly, they need to get more like him, the other male bar person, older one never cracked a smile all night.
Breakfast was great, then during the day we had several servings of buffets , coffee and cakes, all great food and served well.
All in all very professional , comfortable rooms and well run.

I stayed here recently attending a two day conference. The customer service from receptionists, porters and concierges was excellent - they displayed great social skills and were highly efficient. The bedrooms are quiet large and spacious but are quiet out-dated and are now ready for refurbishment. The conference rooms were mainly comfortable but some were a little cold. Lunches included individual portions of hot dishes such as fish and chips and curries supplemented by various salads and other tasty sandwiches. Drinks and snacks were replaced regularly - however the coffee was sometimes weak and cool.
The conference dinner and the breakfasts were average.
