We stayed for one night recently. The immediate thing we noticed was that despite a crowd of people clustered around the check-in desk, the ample number of staff spotted us at the back with our luggage and beckoned us forward - this really makes a difference, there is nothing worse than having to wait, following a long journey, for a poorly staffed desk to process a queue of checking-in guests.
The room was nice, clean and contained a good number of those items one usually has to call the front desk for - including an iron & ironing board. The king-size bed was very comfortable, due to the plump topper. Disappointing was the small bathroom (difficult to get out of the shower if the door is open and your partner is brushing their teeth at the basin), the small number of toiletries (it might be nice for the hotel to anticipate that guests will want to shower on arrival after travelling and before an evening out, as well as the following morning - certainly not enough for this) and the pay-per-day wifi access in the room (Really? this is so 20th century...).
We ordered the in-room breakfast which arrived bang on time (within a15-minute booked slot), was reasonably hot on arrival with good coffee, crisp toast and fresh muffin. No tomato or brown sauces included automatically which is a minor point.
Overall, the visit was pleasant, mostly down to the attitude of the (young) staff. Probably wouldn't stay again given the wide choice in Bristol, but only because we'd rather try somewhere new.
