“hotel was good location not really for us”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Room was very nice and good for the amount paid. Stayed in Holiday Inn in Cardiff previous night paid a lot more for an inferior room. Breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly. Hotel is on a busy island and dual carriageway so expect traffic noise. Wasn't too keen on having to go through subways to get to the main shopping area and wouldn't of done this had it been just myself and daughters. It was a Sunday evening albeit a bank holiday weekend but the shopping area was like a ghost town on the evening with very few restaurants. With hindsight we really needed to have been down on the quayside.

We have stayed in the Holiday Inn Bristol City Centre twice now. Both times it was all of excellent standards. Other than the size of the beds, I couldn't work out what the difference was between the Kingsize and the Double rooms. Both were very well appointed, with very impressive showers.
As would be expected form a chain of this size, the rooms were clean, tidy and well maintained.
The air con works well, good blackout curtains and no noise problems.
Great location for the shops, with a Debenhams (other department stores are available) and a shopping centre a very short walk away. The only downfall is the walk back from the theater - you have to use the underpasses at the roundabout, which get inhabited by the local homeless at night. OK if you are the big, strong, confident type, but if not, it could be a bit intimidating. There does appear to be pedestrian crossings being constructed on the roads at the time of visit (Aug '14), which would alleviate this.
Free WiFi if you are a member of the free to join rewards club, otherwise you have to pay.
Very good quality breakfast (I had fried - tasty local produce). We ate out for dinner.
£10 per night for parking in the adjacent NCP carpark.
Book breakfast on line, or at least in advance (don't just turn up in the morning), for a reduced rate!

This hotel is on the edge of Bristol's main shopping centre and is over accessible by car. They validate parking in the NCP carpark at £10 a day, which is a great help.
The room was very comfortable indeed with a lovely bathroom too. Would certainly return here.

So Trip Advisor here is my usual dilemma. I have ranked this as an average hotel but it is actually quite good. However, the next Trip Advisor rating is very good and it falls short of that.
So let me start with the good. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The gym is excellent with nice views out of large windows. The bathroom in our room was really good and the bar area looked nice although we didn't use it.
The location is OK in that it is just across from Cabot Place but it is about a miles walk into Central Bristol so if you are a tourist be prepared for that. Also not the nicest location being on a major roundabout. The car park is convenient and reasonable at £10/day
The rooms are nicely designed but quite small.
The things that let the hotel down a little bit are the quality of the beds, duvets and pillows. We stayed at a Premier Inn the weekend before and the quality of their bedding is far better.
I also feel that charging £13.95 for a buffet breakfast is ridiculous (similar comment compare against Premier Inn at £8.75). Needless to say we walked into Bristol and found great places for breakfast at a reaction of the price.
Overall this is a decent modern hotel that is fine for business or a short weekend break.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the city. We had no view at all.

Stayed here for a quick trip to Bristol for a night. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The room was very clean, comfortable and the hotel was centrally located. For the price, you can't beat it, definitely would recommend and go back.

We have just come back from spending 1 night here and we cannot fault the hotel! The beds were comfortable and rooms were very spacious! The air conditioning is perfect and the room was freezing within a couple of minutes! The staff were friendly on the front desk and very helpful in assisting us. I haven't stayed in a holiday inn before but after this stay we definitely will be back!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, its also in a great location to cabots. The security in this hotel seems very tight, so I felt very safe staying here as you need your card to get to most places within the hotel!

I stayed in this Hotel in an Executive room. The decor was really pleasing, the room and bed were really comfortable and if this is how Holiday Inns will look in the future i will be staying in them more frequently again. I am a Priority club platinum member so see a few of them.

Only complaint is expensive parking.

Room Tip: I would assume rooms at the front may be noisier than those at the back due to traffic noise.
