This was a great project to visit. It really is a remarkable story and ship. It has been over 1.8 million miles at sea and has been around the world 32 times. There is some very interesting restoration technology on display and you do not feel like you are kept out of the interesting bits.
My 9 year old did not find the reading bits hard and they had a good activity finder for that age. The guides were very pleasant and engaging, although one did think I was my wife’s father!

Wish we had more time. You could easily spend a whole day here. Excellent. Helpful staff. Interesting exhibition to keep all the family entertained.

I visited Brunel’s famous SS Great Britain at Bristol’s Great Western Dockyard earlier this afternoon as part of a group.

The advantage of this being that we were accompanied by a most informative guide which made our 60 minute tour that much more enjoyable. The ship itself has been very well restored and certainly gives a good impression of what life was like as a First, Second and Steerage Class passenger and - as such - I certainly know which part of the ship I would have liked to have been travelling on!

In addition to the SS Great Britain itself, the surrounding Dockyard is very well laid out to set the scene and this is accompanied by a very good Cafe (the venison pies are excellent and strongly recommended) and Shop. Neither of the latter being overly commercial and fairly priced.

All in all a top attraction which should be at the top of any visitors list of things to see!

An amazing experience of yesteryear. Take the ferry round to see her from the water. Then explore all around underneath before going aboard. Tickets last one year so plan to come back!

Really does take you to an era where there were 3 very definite classes and an atmosphere of adventure and exploration. Great value for money as your ticket allows multiple visits. One is not enough.
