Returned to this hotel after first staying a couple of years back...glad to report it's as dependable and comfortable as ever. Great river view room, spotlessly clean. Plus points - tremendous, well presented breakfast...tons of choice, and great local produce. Negatives - a little noisy at times (and chambermaid a little keen to get out room made up when we were having a lie in!)...on the whole, a great place to stay - really central, friendly professional service...we'll definitely stay again and again!

Room Tip: River view - one of the higher floors to avoid street noise.

My son got married at the Glass boat right outside the hotel and we all stayed at the Mercure. It was brilliant. Food fantastic, service wonderful. The breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel for quality and quantity and the staff in the hotel were unfailingly polite, smiling and helpful. I cannot recommend it too highly! I would also recommend the combination of using the Glass boat for the wedding and staying in the Mercure. A winning combination.

Booked a weekend here for a family celebration. Location ideal for the city main attractions, and right on waterfront close to river ferry landing stage which provides a link to Temple Meads railway station and can be a for river trips. The staff were really friendly and we were treated as if we were also part of their family. Would certainly recommend it and intend to return for another break in the future.

Room Tip: The suite on floor 6 was excellent value.

Good modern hotel, nice rooms, good breakfast, very good position you can hope on a ferry boat right outside the hotel if you wish. Plenty of good restaurants close by.
We had a two night stay which was very enjoyable.

Downside, you have to pay for Wifi, which is not acceptable at a hotel any more, you can get free Wifi at many places in town.
There is no parking at the hotel, you can get a discount of 25% if you use the NCP close by but its not cheap.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the front of hotel for the view

Stayed at this hotel on the weekend of the 22nd July, booked a Privilage room as I have to have internet access for my business needs, firstly we arrive at 13.10, and were promptly told come back after 2pm, anyway we did so, and we were given room 605, on the top floor, the room was very nice except I could not get the internet to work, in all fairness to the lady on reception she did try very hard to help and we tried about 15 differrent codes but none worked it was really annoying later I tried using the free mini bar which was empty, so much for the free mini bar, I informed the reception who sent up 2 bottles of mineral water, great what more would a mini bar need ?, anyway I contacted the manager on my return home who did apologise for the mishaps, but offered nothing to put things right, which again is very annoying as I should have booked the basic room and not paid for the extras that I did not recieve, so its left me feeling somewhat cheated and ripped off by this hotel, I dont think I myself or my company will use Mercure hotels again.

Room Tip: Dont book the privilage rooms you dont get what you pay for.

Mr Shaunessy, thank you for your further feedback on Tripadvisor, as you are aware I am sorry on this occasion that you were disappointed with your stay. Please rest assured that we do treat all feedback with the utmost seriousness and following our investigation of both WIFI and cable internet services which are available in the bedrooms, we were unable to identify a problem and nor did we receive any further feedback from our guests,. We will however, continue to monitor this situation take any appropriate action should this problem re-occur. Regarding the mini fridge in our Privilege rooms, these do offer soft drinks and again I was sorry to hear that this was not fully stocked to which I have discussed with my Head Housekeeper who has re-visited the servicing procedures with her team to prevent future occurrence, Kind regards, Iain France - General Manager

A very good stay over Friday/Saturday nights. Room very pleasant, clean and functional although at the back of the Hotel - not a nice view! Front rooms overlooking the river would be a lot better. Staff very pleasant & helpfull. Did not eat/drink at the Hotel so cannot comment. Would recommend as a city centre accomodation and stay there again

We stayed, just for one night, on a Saturday when the harbourside festival was on. The hotel is bright and modern - lots of marble and glass. It's right in the centre of what's happening in the city; perfectly placed for a night out or for exploring Bristol.
Our room overlooked the river and had a tiny balcony which was nice for people-watching. The bed was comfortable, the room facilities as one would expect. (Except for the wifi which one kind of expects to be freely available these days.)
The bathroom was lovely - clean and funky - and we liked the idea of the tv over the bath! Nice powerful shower too.
I have to mention the staff at this hotel: they smiled, were helpful and friendly, and two of them (Aaron and Raoul) went waaaaaaay out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. Aaron opened the bar for us when we got back from clubbing at stupid oclock, arranged a nice seating area for us, and was the perfect host. We thought he deserved a medal for being so lovely to a bunch of (fairly) loud and (pretty much) plastered guests! Thanks Aaron.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to be on the river side of the hotel - it's lovely!
