We recently stayed in the Mercure Brigstow hotel in Bristol. Location is good for central Bristol but as usual parking is not ideal. However guests can park at the local NCP and get a reduction (£15- 24hrs)
Hotel itself is well appointed, clean, nice staff we had a privilege room on the top floor with a nice river view. The room was very clean and in an excellent state, nothing broken or damaged. Bed comfortable, and overall facilities good, the one disappointment the TV which had a smaller selection of channels than Freeview, considering these room are £80 a night upwards I would have hoped for better.

We stayed for just one night on Friday. The location was good- about a 15 minute walk from Temple Meads. The staff were friendly and allowed us to leave our baggage there early. The rooms were clean and modern looking. The area directly around the hotel is good with a few bars and restaurants within a short walk. You can easily walk into the harbour area where there are more bars and restaurants. The pavements in the area are cobbed so leave the stilettos at home. You can walk to Cabot Circus and into the Broadmeads shopping area from the hotel. A great base for a flying visit to Bristol.

I really like this hotel and have adopted it for business trips to Bristol. location is great, as is the standard of the rooms and a river view room is worth the little extra, although ask for a high floor due to revellers (bristolian students mainly) passing by late. Restaurant is good value too. The hotel has a loyalty programme which is worth joining if you're a frequent stayer but do double check they credit your account with each stay as retro claiming points is a bit of a bind.

It's been a couple of years since we last stayed, but thought we'd go again as it's in a great location and has a convenient NCP car park next door. We booked one of the best rooms - with river view and balcony - which was still only £84 a night - and were not disappointed. Very stylish, plenty of tea and coffee, mirrors in the right place for the hairdryer (!) and all very clean and tidy. The tile TV in the bathroom even worked this time. Bed a bit on the hard side for my liking, but that's personal preference. Free Wi Fi in the room and plenty of channels on the flatscreen TV.

The only downside we could find was that the bar in the evening is a bit soul-less, but I guess that's because there are so many great places to eat and drink outside the hotel just a short stroll away, which is what we planned to do anyway. Definitely will book again in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a River View or a River View with Balcony. The River View rooms have a sliding floor to ceiling window, so you still get a great view. But bear in mind once the trees have leaves on, you can see very little of the river. Have stayed in summer and winter and it can be noisy at night because of the proximity of bars and restaurants, but if you don't mind the window shut and the air-con on in summer - no problem at all. Have never had a room at the back of the hotel.

Visited with my partner & two friends on Saturday 30th April.

Managed to get a cheap room which was great considering as it was the bank holiday weekend.

Staff were friendly, our rooms were fab. The hotel is very clean & trendy – we actually appeared to have a disabled access room which was great as we had a massive walk in shower & our room was huge!

Location is excellent – literally 100m max away from everything and straight on the river. Very central yet not so central that you hear the noise!

There is a car park next door (multi story) which is £20 for 24 hours – the hotel zap you’re ticket and you receive 25% off – we were zapped but didn’t receive any discount – we couldn’t be bothered to walk back to the hotel so just paid up.

First time out in Bristol & I would definitely return – especially to this hotel!
