“Good hotel, great location!”
Reviewed 13 June 2013

Had a great 1 night stay over a weekend. Can only review the bedrooms as did not get to use the restaurant and facilities. Rooms were clean and comfortable and TV was excellent as it had a facility to plug in phone, ipod etc with its jack facility. Bathroom was great and shower was amazingly hot with plenty of power, perfect for smashing away the old hangover! Location is cracking, walking distance to just about everywhere. Parking is this hotels biggest drawback. The local NCP is a rip-off, even with the 25% discount from the hotel. You are better parking on the road from 5pm for 1 hour until restrictions finish at 6pm at a cost of £2 then its £2.50 all night and Sundays are free! If your visiting in the week - unlucky! If you can find a better hotel with free parking for up to £30 less then take it up, it will save you in the long run!

I made a mistake when booking my Bristol hotel and whilst I really like the other mercure hotel ( I had meant to book there) but this has me torn, the location is fantastic but the parking is not so if you don't fancy leaving your expensive pristine car in a multi storey public car park then you may be better choosing another however if like me you have a typical company barge and you don't have everything inside your car left on show then it is worth it as the food and service was great, the location fantastic( take a walk along the riverside if you are not convinced) . I was travelling alone and as such chose to eat in the hotel and all my meals were excellent but the surrounding area has great bars and a good choice of places to eat. I've read a few reviews of this hotel which indicated that their rooms were not great but mine was clean and well presented. A nice place to spend time especially with the river view. Next time Im in Bristol I can see myself returning here ( just with a slightly emptier car)

Room Tip: River view rooms are great

The Brigstow is an excellent hotel, very comfortable and convenient for everything in Bristol. The rooms are well appointed and the beds comfortable. Did not eat in the restaurant but a simple breakfast was provided on request. Will always try to use the Brigstow when in Bristol

perfect hotel for anything you need in Bristol city centre, close to train station and close to bars, restaurants and shops.perfectly located hotel right on the river which provides lovely views if your room overlooks them like mine did, ended up with a privilege room which had the view an a slight balcony, also had a TV in the bath and a separate shower, bed was comfy and the room was very nice, didn't eat in the hotel so cant comment but there's plenty of places around the hotel to choose from if you don't fancy the hotel

Room Tip: front facing room

Booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my wife. We only live 11 miles from Bristol but liked the look of the hotel as it was right on the river. Beautiful location, although lack of free parking could put people off. Had a package of D.B&B, a bit pricey, but this was a treat. The privilege room was a bit small but had all the amenities expected at this level. Why is it that all hotel double bed mattresses sink in the middle? Can be very uncomfortable! Why not have memory foam?

Reception staff very good and helpful, but the bar and restaurant staff get five stars (maître d Hungarian). Restaurant food was nice but limited due to our package. Breakfast provided an enormous array of both cold and hot food, but unfortunately the fried eggs and scrambled eggs were overdone no doubt due to over exposure.

Our overall experience was acceptable for this location. Next time in Bristol it is back to The Marriott Royal, you just can't beat it. Have also previously stayed at the Mercure Grange which is excellent.

My new wife, I and 11 other couples recently stayed at this hotel (23/24th May). We found the rooms to be a cut above the usual business class hotel. Obviously if you have a river front room there's not a lot to complain about but even those in rear rooms liked them and were very comfortable. The reason for our stay? We had our wedding reception here. We had 60 for the sit down meal and approx. 100 in the evening. If we go back about 8 months or so we were walking past the hotel, looking for a potential venue for our up coming wedding and pretty much on a whim went inside. First impressions were of a corporate, business class hotel but from the moment we met with the Events Organiser Christopher Davies and he showed us around we realised that this could be the place for us. I can honestly say that the whole experience could not have been more stress free or enjoyable. Like all couples we had our own ideas of how we wanted the day to go and had already sourced suppliers for various items but we found that the hotel could provide everything we wanted (or contacts for them) for comparable prices and for ease we used those. Throughout the process we found Chris to be very accommodating even though we were still changing items until a couple of days to go. On the day, the service was fantastic. The food was great (and HOT) both for the wedding breakfast and buffet. Service was attentive but not intrusive and communication was well judged so that we didn't have to worry about things at all. Whilst I have to commend all of the staff, for us the stars were Chris (obviously) but also the Maitre D', Gabor, who's professionalism and dry humour was a hit not only with us but also many of our guests as well. We have received many compliments about the day but whilst we may have planned it (pretty well as it turns out) it was the hotel and the staff that made it so special. I would wholeheartedly recommend The Brigstow for your special day or any event really because I don't think you could hope for a better setting or service. Thank you Iain, Chris, Gabor and everyone else.

Room Tip: My parents had the suite on the top floor. With double aspect windows/bi-fold doors it looked up an...

Whilst the weather over the Whitsun bankholiday was atrocious our stay at the Mercure Brigstow wasnt. The hotel was very clean and the ambience was one of modern chic. Bristol was hosting a food and drink fayre promoting local food and my favorite local beers. Down side finding parking within Bristol city centre is a nauseating chore there were few spaces within the hotels perimeter all spaces were on meters. Highlight of the trip Clifton suspension bridge a marvel of engineering.

Room Tip: Ask for waterside views for plesant view of the canal and canal resaurants.
