“Lovely location”
Reviewed 7 July 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights, we booked via one of the last minute deals online, we were offered breakfast at £16.95 pp per night which we declined because it was a tad expensive, Lloyds bar on the river front does a HUGE breakfast for £4.50 done deal for us :)
The location of the hotel it just perfect ... Short walk to the main attractions and the rooms were lovely and spacious and clean! Only little gripe was that the pillows were a tad on the hard side!! All in all a fabulous hotel in a great location, we'll be coming back again :)

Hotel was clean and staff superb however south facing room with no air cond or way of cooling the room meant it was stuffy and far too hot! Asked the staff who told me there was nothing that could be done....woke up the next morning with a bed bug bite...nice hotel but I won't rush back again soon. Cooling system needs addressing. Free wi-fi however it didn't work.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent visit. I’m glad to learn that part of your stay you enjoyed, however I have noted your comments about the air comforting system in your bedroom which is really only effective with the windows closed although, I have requested my maintenance team to examine the hotel systems and take any appropriate measures to prevent future occurrence. I was also sorry to learn of the allegation of a bed bug bite, at Mercure we take feedback such as this very seriously and we are disappointed that this was not reported directly to the hotel during your stay. I can confirm that my housekeeping team have inspected every bedroom in the hotel and we work together with a pest controll contractor who inspect the premises on a regular basis and to date we are not aware of any such issue. I would be grateful is you could call me directly on Tel: 0117 929 1030 so I can have a better understanding of this allegation and the details of the allocated room on this occasion. Kind regards, Iain France -General Manager

Good comfortable quality hotel in a great location - handy for the harbour area, cabot circus and St. Nicks market, Old duke jazz bar just round he corner & Corn Street bars just over Baldwin Street & up the stairs.

Numerous good restaurants in the immediate location - Glass boat right opposite, very good Tapas at El Puerto, excellenat & reasonable Itlaian at Guiseppes on the Steps (especially if you go for the Early Bird 3 course)

Staff are always friendly & extremeley helpful - the set meal in the hotel is very good value & fairly good - I nearly always go for the market fish option.

All in all a good hotel - value for money, good staff, excellent location, clean & comfortable.

Stayed here on a friday night to go out with friends. We always stay at this hotel as it is far enough from bristol centre to avoid the mass of drunken idiots and usually we have no problems.

However, on this occasion we were clearly allocated a corner room at the last minute despite booking online weeks in advance. Corner rooms are smaller and thus not really the best when there are two people in the room. This would be much more appropriate for single occupancy.

Upon entering the room it was quite clear that the housekeeping had been done in a rush as there was still leftover food in the fridge from the previous occupant, the bins still contained rubbish from housekeeping themselves and simple things like topping up tissues and toilet rolls had been missed. We got the manager up to the room and he rectified all these things, offering us complementary drinks which we could collect a voucher for from reception. Now that would have been a pleasure if anyone had been at reception when we called down! Unfortunately the abandonment of reception in the late evening seems to be a growing trend.

Other small bug bares, the lights are not the best in the room so not having a working lamp on the desk by the mirror made getting ready difficult. Also, the promised (as advertised) tv/music link into the bathroom was not working as the button could not even be properly depressed. These we didnt complain about, but maybe the hotel should consider a review of its fixtures and advertising if it is not offering the service it is claiming.

Overall, yes I would stay again. What we asked to be sorted was sorted, straight away and I personally do feel that it is in a good location for what we're looking for, I just get the feeling that there may have been a change of manager or such.

Lovely hotel in very central location. Loved the decor, and it was a big room with super comfy bed and pillows, spotless bathroom with bath, shower and a TV! All for a very reasonable price. Really enjoyed staying, a shame it was only for 1 night. One downside was walls seemed quite thin so there was a bit of noise, being woken up at 5am by people singing y viva espana wasn't great, but they were obviously excited about going on holiday :). Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of May in a third floor corner room looking out towards the river.
The room and bathroom where very good quality, the bed really comfortable with great pillows and a bath with a TV built into the tiles.
Breakfast served on the ground floor with large windows out to the river was one of the best I have had in a Accor group hotel, although the usual buffet it was fresh and tasty with good quality ingredients. I had room service one night and this was served hot and was very good quality not too overly priced.

The only slight down side with the location of this hotel is the that it is surrounded by converted office blocks that are now student flats. On my two final nights I was disturbed about 3am by students returning from late night drinking.
