“GREAT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2014

Only stayed here one night but was a great experience. Room was wonderful, had all the amenities you needed when staying for just one night. View was of the car park but we didn't get the room for that anyway so it hardly counts. Great for the price!

Room Tip: Try to ask for room looking over the harbour if you're picky about the view.

Firstly, I rarely write reviews...

This is just a superb hotel - conveniently located for the centre, beautiful location (do make sure you choose a room with a view of the harbour) and with friendly professional and efficient service and staff.

I stayed here for 3 nights over the weekend - taking advantage of the 40% winter saver you can get by booking on the Mercure website. Having stayed there previously, I had requested a high floor room, to get the best views. When I arrived, I had been allocated a high floor room (but not the top floor). I hadn't realised that the top floor rooms were Privilige rooms, and when explained to me I happily paid the £20 upgrade/night (if only to get some spectacular views from the top floor).

I have to especially mention Silva who was the receptionist on duty when I checked-in. She managed to turn my initial check-in disappointment into a great experience, and her smart positive nature will surely make her go far in this organisation.

Room Tip: Superior and Privilige rooms have wonderful views of the river/harbour

So, I eventually found the hotel by car. Now, where the building is isn't really the fault of the chain, but please be aware it is awkward to get to by car. Then parking. Now this is an issue. There isn't any. The staff were quite unhelpful on directions for parking too. Though to be fair, they did try. So I moved my car, walked back to the hotel with my bag in the pouring rain. To check in. Eventually. There was a lady in front of me who was a regular, asking to be moved from the 1st floor as it always too noisy & there should be a note on her guest file to that effect. So I thought, "hope I'm not on the first floor".
Except I was. The room had twin beds, where I'd booked double bed. The bathroom was somewhat tired, as was the whole place really. It needs a refit.
Immense issues connecting to any data.
I didn't eat here so I've no comments on the food, but the menu looked like the usual hotel fare.
I got back from dinner & sure enough, couldn't sleep for the street noise.
Next morning, cold shower.
So... Not good. It's not the chain, because I do use others quite often. It's this particular venue needs attention. Not good for the price.

The hotel is is a great location in the centre of the city but set away from the main roads. The room was a decent size and it had all the amenities for our overnight stay, everything was in good condition and it was really clean. The only downside was the parking which cost £15 for one night

Very easy to get to the location of this hotel from the train station, very swift check in, I think the room we were in was an upgrade .Comfortable room , very spacious bathroom, all very clean, lovely bed. On check in we were offered to pay for breakfast for the following day at a reduced rate. The breakfast was well worth the money, lots of choice foodwise. I have stayed In a couple of hotels in Bristol and this so far is the best one.
