“Never book through late rooms i was conned big time.”
Reviewed 20 July 2009

We booked for a Sunday night stay so some of our comments may be different if you stay Fri/Sat.The Hotel is situated in nice locatation with plenty of good restaurants but not many bars.We stayed in a Superior room which is just a normal Premier Inn accomadation which boast of Plasma TV in the bathroom, which was the size of a small bath tile. The staff were ok but not that friendly or helpful. Our biggest frustration is with Late Rooms. We booked the room a week in advance, and made it clear that we wanted a superior room with breakfast included. But when we finished breakfast and were told that breakfast was not included we were not best pleased. When booking with Late Rooms double check what you are paying for is what you get.You need to look after all your customers in these hard times or else your lose them to the better operators.

Stayed here for a family wedding and very good value in our opinion. Lovely room, very comfortable and clean - even a tv in the bathroom! Only minor criticisms were the price of the (not included) breakfast, the fact we had one of two connecting rooms (meaning we could hear a lot of next door's noise) and the slight unhelpfulness of the reception staff when one of our family member's took our room key and forgot to return it to us before retiring to their own room!
Fab location and would def stay in one of these hotels again.

This was, without question, the worst hotel experience in recent memory. What's up with the positive reviews? It's hard to miss the big problems here: the elevator, stairwell and corridors smell terrible-- like a toilet. The room we were given smelled like smoke and was not improved by airing. When we reported a security issue (the balcony door, extending onto a shared balcony would not lock), we had to convince the staff that this was actually a problem. We were first told that the hotel was "fully booked" and then shifted to another room (suddenly available). This one also smelled bad. The room was not especially clean. My magazines, set out for reading, disappeared on Day Two after housekeeping came. The next day, garbage was left in the room (empty beer cans) after it was 'cleaned.' The shower did not drain. The hotel location is good if you don't mind the noise from neighboring restaurants (until 1AM). But the last straw was this: because the walls are paper thin and the balconies are shared, we were treated to continuous drunken screaming from the room next door until 4AM. In other words, no sleep. Do not stay at this hotel: it has a few frivolous features (TV in the bath? WTF?) but cannot deliver even the most basic hotel requirements (i.e. standards of cleanliness; decent sleep for hotel guests).

Thank you for your comments which we will endeavour to act upon. I would like to update on the situation regarding a bad odour in the lfit/stairwell area - this was caused by water seepage into the lift shaft (we are a riverside site) but has now been totally rectified

I have stayed at the Mercure Bristow before and have recently returned from a 2 night stay with my wife, a shopping trip. The hotel, in my opinion has been always good in all areas.
It is easy to find, driving from the motorway, The hotel itself has a good feel, all areas are well maintained , trendy, attractive and comfortable.
The staff at reception are nice but could be more welcoming. All staff in general are friendly, efficient and knowledgable of the area.
The bedroom is comfortable, incl. beds and very clean, with TV in the bathroom.
The bar and dining room staff are also welcoming and efficient, the standard of the food in the hotel restaurant is excellent and the variety at breakfast buffet is very good with an excellent fresh cooked breakfast on Sunday.

The location is excellent, in front of the river. Its easy to walk to the shopping centre, eating, nightlife areas including the new Cabot Circus, that takes about 10-15 mins easy walk.
One slight negative, it is noisy at weekends. You could ask for a quieter room in the higher floors. The hotel is right in the centre, with a nice view of the river for an extra small fee.
It still being my first choice for a stay in Bristol.

A good central location, although had to pay for parking in nearby multi storey. Unhelpful reception staff and slow check in. There was apparently some kind of problem with the room we had been allocated so we had no choice but to have a smoking room instead. Apart from the smell the room was ok, but quite noisy late on (Saturday night - music from nearby venue). Breakfast was good (cooked to order) - but they tried to hurry us, asking for our order before we had even been seated or given a menu! Not the worst hotel ever, but we certainly won't be going back.

The location of this hotel is very good and the rooms of the hotel are very stylish.
BUT: I've never been in such a dirty room! Especially not in hotels of that price class.
I don't know if that room has been cleaned at all! The bathroom and especially the toilet have been awfully dirty! On the glasses in the bathroom we could see prints of the lips from the former user... And in the whole room was dust everywhere.
After complaining we got another room... and it was just the same. Except: The TV in the bathroom didn't work there at all (in the first room just the audio wasn't running), the little mirror was broken etc. Fortunately we have booked the room for a special rate and fortunately we've only booked one night!
