“Handy for Bristol”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

We stayed for one night in September 2013. This hotel is fine for a stopover. The Hotel was right on the A4 only a few minutes by car from the temple meads area of Bristol.
The host was pleasant. There was parking at the back of the Hotel. The parking was limited but was on a quiet residential street so we managed to find parking just down the road a few yards away.
The room was comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable. The room was tired with small areas of the wallpaper that were peeling and could have done with a lick of paint. The bathroom was serviceable but there was black mould in the shower and also on the window frame in the bedroom. The room we had was at the front of the Hotel and I hadn't realised how much traffic went past throughout the night but the room was double glazed so this helped to muffle out alot of the noise, when the window wasn't open.
The dining area was very nicely laid out and the breakfast was excellent, very nicely cooked and plentiful.

The hotel is fine as a base or an overnight stopover. It is in need of some TLC and updating. That said, the room was comfortable and quiet even though we faced the main road. Breakfast was good and staff are very pleasant. As a budget location, it met my needs.

My room was clean, (dust on the window sill) the location was very good for Briatol town centre. Lots of supermarkets and shops close by. The hotel is tired but I would stay there again. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great.

Very very poor...room 2 is in dire need of a good clean..and refurb....shower full of black mould, toilet seat loose, smell coming.from plug hole.Carpet really dirty...lampshades on. Bedside tables all crushed bulbs too big for the shades.
Looked like someone had spat on one of the walls...thick dirt and grime around switch for shower.
Headboard on bed filthy still had hair stuck to it.dirty dusty imatation flowers in fire grate.
Dirty cracked cups on sticky tray.
Worst of all was the overpowering smell of rancid cooking fat..that lingered through the house..the noise on the A4 was the least of our worries..but that was like sleeping on the motorway , because we had to have the window open because of the smell and the very warm weather.
Was not greeted in a very friendly manner, was not shown to the room.
Breakfast was warmed up in a microwave...it was not cooked fresh...he wasn't in the kichen long enough , and we heard the ping of the microwave.
Had a strange infact very rude phone call the night before we arrived asking ..how much did my wife quote you to stay here ..very weird..and rude...would not recommend the A4 hotel to anyone..what made it even more sad was the fact were in Bristol to attend family funeral...

We stayed here while visiting friends in Bristol and also because we were going into Bath. Our room was large with plenty of light. The owner was friendly and helpful. There is free parking and wi-fi which is another reason why we chose this hotel. Good for the price.

Very welcoming host, small but comfortable room. Apart from the heat being on full blast in the heat wave! The breakfast on both mornings was great, big and tasty! He also remembered my vegetarian requests on the second morning and cooked my eggs to my liking. The only downfall to this hotel was the distance from town, it's a long walk! But if you don't mind that the hotel was good overall.
