Stayed on11th December and wanted a hotel near the Colston Hall.
Location perfect for us,,value for money very good, loved the fresh ground coffee and fruit in the room.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Lounge area looked very welcoming.
Parking roadside or private parking at £6.
Food looked really good and plenty of customers eating at the restaurant below
The bathroom needs an overall, water in hand basin warm or hot no cold water.Shower intermittent hot and cold water and no pressure more like a dribble than a jet spray.
Walls in the bedroom need repainting and in behind the dresser,as the painter has painted around the dresser
Would I stay there again,YES.
But would want an upgrade from the room we stayed in No 9 for the points mentioned.

Room Tip: not number 9 because of the shower and its on the side road.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am glad you were pleased with the staff and felt the hotel offered value for money and I hope you enjoyed your event at Colston Hall! I am sorry that this was marred by the décor and the water issues you experienced. Following your review I have prioritised room 9 for decorating and the water problems have been investigated and solved. I hope we can welcome you back in the future please do contact us directly and we can ensure you stay in one of our recently updated rooms.

Cheap hotel, good location, but expect as much sleep as the person that gets in last and wakes up first. An old building that creaks, thin walls meaning next doors tv may as well be in your room, doors that slam.

Room Tip: Try and get away from the very popular bar on the ground floor and away from any other residents!

Dear Guest,

I am sorry to hear that you were disturbed by noise from other guests in the hotel. During the festive season particularly, and as we are a city centre hotel people are coming and going at different times and although we have staff on duty to try to prevent disturbance some people are still not respectful of others sleep. If you are staying again in the future please let us know and ask for a quiet room where we can do our best to ensure there is minimal disturbance.

Dear Guest,

I am very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us and particularly to hear that the staff were rude as our customer service is something we pride ourselves at providing to a high level and often have positive comments about. I will be meeting with members of staff who worked during the time you stayed to talk to them about this. I would also like to apologise on behalf of the restaurant manager about the stain on your napkin and I will ensure that this is passed on to him. I am glad you found your room clean and the shower hot, we are running a rolling refurbishment program constantly replacing and updating areas most in need and I will be reviewing what we can do to improve the room you stayed in.

A lovely hotel in a great location within easy walking distance of all the sites in Bristol. Had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. An ideal hotel for a weekend trip to Bristol.

Our daughter is a student living in Bristol. She lives in Redlands/Whiteladies area so decided to stay in Clifton (near her) rather than central Bristol. Hotel was brilliant. Very central. She walked to us and then we set off on a marathon walk. Went to Clifton Suspension Bridge , Clifton Village (lovely) Had a mulled wine at the Avon Gorge Hotel, then ended up at the German market, then dinner. Got back to hotel around 8.30pm. Their bar scene (basement so no noise) was great fun.
Hotel clean, staff very helpful. They have their own basement carpark 30 seconds away(£6.50 a night) but would recommend it, as parking in any part of Bristol not easy! We left the car there for the whole duration. Hotel room small, as was bathroom, but perfectly formed and got biscuits, coffee and fruit in room. Only small criticism, the bathroom facilities were a bit limited. Just hand soap and a dispenser in shower (body wash and hair shampoo combined. ) Would have been nice to have shampoo and conditioner separate. Small point though.... Would strongly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Take your own hair products!!

I was able to get off to sleep, once the general noise had died down, at about 12:30 only to be woken by the guy in the next room arriving back at 2:10am, talking into his phones outside my door then crashing about. Someone else was up and noisy at 7:15. The location is excellent but the value for money (£ per hour of sleep) is poor.

This hotel is ideal if you're visiting the area and not planning to spend too much time in the hotel. Agree with previous reviewers that the rooms are small and look a bit tired and dated, but they're clean. The staff are very friendly. It's also a very affordable hotel. The cafe area on the ground floor is nice. There's also a bar in the basement called Racks which was a great place to have a drink - busy, not too expensive and had a good vibe. The hotel isn't far from town - within reasonable walking distance of the harbour, but would probably opt for a taxi on the way back as it's uphill all the way! The area around Clifton had some great pubs and restaurants. We would stay here again when back down visiting friends.
