Nice hotel with generally friendly staff (breakfast service was a little terse!). My room was at the front of the building and was a good size with an excellent bathroom. Overall very good and recommended.

Clean and comfortable rooms. Superb evening meal, chose the steak cooked rare and it was spot on.
The breakfast waitress was friendly and welcoming and the food was cooked to order.
Left my mobile charger in the room and it was promptly posted back to me thanks very much.

Hotel rooms were modern, fair sized and in good order ; breakfast delightful ( typical "English" and additional choice of two smoked fish dishes.) Finally all the staff were friendly and efficient - borne out by their approach to a minor but irritaing problem that required us to change rooms. For this we recieved a complimentary bottle of wine - you couldn't ask for better service than that.

Room Tip: The main hotel is on a busy road which might be a problem for front facing rooms - we had a room in...

Quite a nice hotel in a period building. The car park was small and quite tight for a large car. 4 people for 2 nights and 3 of us were in the main house but the 4th was in the stable block. Rooms in the main house were comfortable but upstairs in the stable block had a sloping roof, which caused problems for an average sized person. Tall people beware! The food was really nice with the accent on home made. Yogurt, jam, lemon curd and ice cream all home made and delicious. The bar was small but comfortable and there were hot nuts and olives with your drinks. They bring the menu to you in the bar, take your order and call you to the restaurant when your food is ready, which was very nice after a long day of work. Only draw back was, the menu is set for the week and with 3 vegetarians, there was not much choice. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would come again.

Room Tip: Steer clear of the stable block if you are tall. No lift if you have trouble with stairs.

Stayed on a Sunday night mid August. When I booked through central reservations wasn't told that the Restaurant would be shut as I probably would have changed the hotel. However when I called the hotel a week before our due stay was told about the restaurant being shut then. We arrived around 8pm so not to have any sort of meal was a bit disappointing. Not very relaxing to have to go out in the car again. Perhaps the hotel should have a list of pubs/restaurants nearby that one can go to or even serve sandwiches? Anyway we found a place which was OK a couple of miles away.

Hotel nice and cosy. Rooms OK. Bathroom sensor obviously working well as my friend discovered when she had a bath and was having a nice soak. When no movement - the light goes OFF! Also if bathroom door not closed and you pass it the light comes on!

Beds very very comfortable. Breakfast easy and delicious. Relaxing atmosphere.

Room Tip: Rooms on 1st floor meant to be spacious.

By and large I had an excellent stay. The hotel itself is charming and clean, the restaurant experience was of the very highest order and the staff were extremely friendly and competent. Unfortunately, the thing that let the stay down was the variable power in the shower, going hot and cold before finally dying almost completely. If you could address this issue I'd return for all my business visits.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without variable shower pressure.

Excellence is the bye word. A small friendly gem of a hotel found by accident 'on line'. Two couples stayed for two nights while attending a nearby Ruby Wedding Celebration. We were delighted by the friendly helpful staff, the smart appearance of both the outside and the inside of the Hotel but above all by the food provided. Our room was as requested on the ground floor close to reception and the dining room and was exceptionally well presented, house keeping do a really good job.
Saturday's evening meal was excellent as were both breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble.
We will not need much of an excuse to return!!!!!!

Room Tip: Telephone the Hotel direct as the Best Western "system" is not the easiest to negotiate!
