“Small, friendly and a lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Very warm welcome from young lady on reception who showed us to our room (8) which was located on the top floor overlooking the rear garden. The room was large and well appointed with modern marble clad bathroom containing a large ‘P’ shaped bath with overhead shower. There was a large closet with numerous shelves, and a safe. The room was clean and comfortable, and contained complimentary tea/coffee tray. There was a computer available in the lounge for complimentary use by guests. Breakfast was cooked to order and served piping hot by a friendly staff member who went out of his way to find out our names so he could greet us by name in the morning, a procedure we normally encounter at the more luxurious hotel chains such as Shangri-La, Mandarin Oriental etc. Throughout our five night stay we found all members of staff to be friendly, professional and willing to go that extra mile to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay. The location of the hotel is only a short walk from Blaise Castle and Blaise Hamlet, and there is a frequent bus service (buses 1 & 76) to Bristol from a bus stop immediately outside the hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bristol, but not wanting to stay in the city itself.

My wife and I were looking for somewhere in North Bristol where we could hold an afternoon tea reception for 40 guests following a funeral. Henbury Lodge proved to be the ideal venue, as they set out our refreshments (delicious) in the restaurant, from where were we able to spread out into the lovely garden. We also stayed the nights of June 26 and 27, taking both breakfast and dinner, and were impressed with the quality and choice on offer. The young members of staff at the hotel, Lilla,Tunde, and Rowan are simply superb, with their friendly efficiency and willingness to help. The hotel provides and old world atmosphere of calm and tranquility with smooth and friendly service.

We are pleased with Best Western associated hotels and Henbury Lodge is no exception! Most welcoming Reception upon arrival and Departure! Comfortable Room 1 (ideal for older couples requiring twin bedded accommodation) on ground floor of main house - newly refurbished and with a fire door you can close in the hall between it and the small lounge, open to other guests, so late night chatting is not a disturbing feature if staying in this ample facility. Environmentally pleasing in every respect as an old Mansion House type hotel with garden to match and so convenient for Westbury on Trym - our objective! Breakfast top hole and most obligingly served (despite the fact as old fogies we were the last to arrive just before the end of Breakfast time). Sets you up for the day. What more needs to be said?

Room Tip: Room 1 excellent for couples requiring twin bedded accommodation on ground floor in the main house o...

Stayed at the hotel on the 25th June 2014, the hotel itself is very tired looking, however very clean and the service was exceptional.

Had the best sirloin steak ever, the reception and waitresses deserve a medal for service.

possibly slightly overpriced for the type of hotel but will stay again, just for the welcome

Very friendly, helpful staff. There is a beautiful garden to relax after a busy day, or have a nice breakfast before.
The restaurant is has an excellent menu. I was amazed by the great deserts, especially by the home made ice cream selection.

My wife and I stayed on the 19th and 20th June 2014 the whole experience was first class, we had booked in for bed and breakfast and on the first night we had our dinner in the hotel which was absolutely excellent and very reasonably priced. All the staff were both friendly and helpful all in all a great place to stay

Room Tip: Room 2 is a lovely big room with a beautiful en suite, this room overlooks the gardens and although...

Feeling like to be a familiar hotel Good breakfast with great fresh orange Juice and delicious dried fruit. maybe a bit long time to wait for breakfast items. But they use a good quality of food. Better then when I ve been in some other similar range of hotel in the UK.
